More like Lady Tutu for Gaga‘s upcoming Vogue UK feature. [Fashion Indie]

Hear Ye: Come October, head turner Lady Gaga will put out a set of fashion earphones for the Beats by Dr. Dre line (which, by the way, claim to be the “most advanced headphones ever developed”). Among all the celeb denim and large-chain diffusion lines, this is definitely one of the more unusual star fashion forays. Then again, you wouldn’t quite expect Gaga to put out a collection of separates for Wal-Mart. (Or would she? For the irony?)

Called Heartbeats, the line of futuristic, typically-Gaga designs feature triangular metallic charms on the outside of the earbuds, which are meant to double as flashy jewelry. On the cords: a fastening with her autograph. We see how die-hard fans might be pumped to drop the $100-$150 price to get closer to Gaga’s music. Where things get weird, however, is the press release, which is so corny it reads like a De Beers commercial. Says LG: “In the deepest hour of the night, I confess to myself three things; I would die if I was forbidden to write, forbidden to love, or forbidden to fashion…Wear Heartbeats, love each other, and celebrate the art and lifestyle of music.”

She of the crazy clothes can be found this month in the mag’s pages clad as scantily as ever, but they’ve traded in her usual avant-garde fare for plenty of skin, black leather, a whole lot of blood-smearing and the sort of skeleton-loving we’re pretty sure can’t be totally legal. Lady Gaga, you’ve got some ‘splaining to do. Irish pop star Róisin Murphy claims:

“Lady Gaga is just a poor imitation of me. She has copied my style.”

Has Lady Gaga been taking style inspiration from The Frisky? Maybe! The wacky fashion-loving pop star went on a Japanese television show to perform an acoustic version of “Poker Face” while wearing this elephant-shaped hair sculpture. We recognized it instantly as one of the Nagi Noda creations that we discovered a few weeks ago. The Japanese artist (who died last year) made, among other pop-art pieces, these animal-shaped headpieces molded out of human hair. Should have known that something so bizarre would turn up in Lady Gaga’s wardrobe, naturally. [NY Mag, TheFrisky]

Lady Gaga allegedly revealed that she was born a hermaphrodite. Here’s what she supposedly said:

“It’s not something that I’m ashamed of, just isn’t something that I go around telling everyone. Yes. I have both male and female genitalia, but I consider myself a female. It’s just a little bit of a penis and really doesn’t interfere much with my life. The reason I haven’t talked about it is that it’s not a big deal to me. Like come on. It’s not like we all go around talking about our vags. I think this is a great opportunity to make other multiple gendered people feel more comfortable with their bodies. I’m sexy, I’m hot. I have both a poon and a peener. Big f*cking deal.”

• Police beat protesters outside a Sudanese court today, who had gathered to support Lubna Hussein, a female journalist who is on trial for violating Islamic law for wearing pants in public. Hussein, a former U.N. worker, has already received 10 lashes from police and paid a fine, but is facing 40 additional lashes. My pubescent pop-culture adrenaline soared to dangerous heights for MTV’s Video Music Awards back in high school. And still, it’s fun to see who made the cut. So get your ballots ready, cause the nominations are in! “Single lady” Beyoncé and Lady Gaga each have nine nominations, tying for the top spot. Britney Spears has the third-highest number of nominations—she reeled in seven. We’ll have to wait until September 13, when Russell Brand hosts the show for the second year in a row, to see who walks home with the most moon men. Maybe they should start making a moon woman? We’ve long admired Lady Gaga‘s ambitious and avant garde fashion style, but has she gone too far with this one? Poor Kermie.

OK, not really, but she did wear this monster of a dress to a live performance for the Orange Rock Corps at the Apollo Theatre in Manchester. I’m not sure if Jim Henson’s estate plans to sue, but if I were them, I would so that she could never, ever wear this getup again. [7/14/09]

The line between a bob and a bowl cut is a fine one, determined by just a few snips of a hairdresser’s scissors. Do the bangs blend right into the rest of the hair? Are the edges rounded? If so, you’ve got a bowl cut, the style you might have had back when your mom was still deciding how you wore your hair.

Lady Gaga performed at gay club Heaven over the weekend wearing a number of ridic outfits, including this polygon of a dress. Looks like we have a trend in the works.

Earlier this week, Lady Gaga took time out from pantslessness and boob explosions to volunteer at AIDS charity Body Positive North West in Manchester, England. “I want to make it fashionable to have safe sex,” she said. “You must be safe. You can have sex with hundreds of people with a condom on and get nothing. If you have sex without one, then you could get all sorts of problems.” Hey, if the singer can create a trend out of neglecting to put clothes on the lower half of her body, maybe she can get people to put on condoms.

While she was at the AIDS center, she helped paint the above mural that included her likeness. The hair-bow is accurate, but why is she wearing leggings? [The Advocate]
