Stop the presses! Yesterday, the blogosphere went bananas over a story that Katy Perry had taken a vow of celibacy for 2009. Well, I just got off the phone with the single sexpot (who recently broke up with Gym Class Heroes’ Travis McCoy), and she laughed: “Celibate for a whole year? I’d rather die!” We hear ya’, Katy! The self-proclaimed “prankster” sighed and said that she wished the media understood her sense of humor. Miss Perry still swears, “Yes, I kissed a girl!” While there’s no confirmation on if she liked it, she’s very happy about the Grammy nomination that she received for Best Female Pop Vocal.

While some of us may kiss girls and like it, the principal of Van High School in Texas doesn’t even like the idea set to song. Three members of the school spirit twirling team were suspended from performing after they did a routine to Katy Perry’s #1 hit, “I Kissed A Girl”, at a pep rally. WTF?!  What a double standard!  It’s totally cool for high school dance teams to do sexually provocative dance moves in skimpy uniforms to explicit hetero love songs like “Low”, but Katy Perry giggling about a lesbian kiss crosses the line?  “We did have rules in place, and rules were broken and discipline followed,” said Van Independent School District spokesman Suzie McWilliams. Rules or discrimination? Puh-lease, the very uptight Ms. McWilliams needs to get some perspective…perhaps another woman could loosen her up? [NBC via Fark]

Guys like watching girls make out. When men spot girl-on-girl action, it’s like moths to a flame. This summer, there have been plenty for dudes to gawk at, seeing as being a lesbian is the new new thing. From Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” to Megan Fox admitting she fell for a stripper named Nikita, going girl gay is everywhere. But what about us gawkers? Women get the shaft when it comes to “Brokeback Mountain”-style bromances. We want to know. Does two dudes making out do it for you?
