By now you’ve probably heard that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have asked Bono to be godfather to their twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline. And that Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz are considering John Mayer for godfather of their unborn child. I’ve never really thought about famous godparents probably because I’ve never really had a great relationship with my own godparents, except for my late Uncle Eddie. However, when this news broke, we at The Frisky decided to research other famous godparents and realized some of these relationships are really surprising.

Michelle Williams has been struggling to remain strong for daughter Matilda after Heath Ledger’s death in January. But now, she seems to have found some happiness with director Spike Jonze. “Michelle kissed Spike with a closed mouth on the corner of his lips,” says an eyewitness to who saw the couple leaving Jonze’s Manhattan apartment. “There was definitely a little bit of caressing going on. She was clutching his arm. The body language was very romantic.”

Before walking in the theater (and for the record, I bought my ticket four days in advance because it was obvious every showing the opening weekend was going to sell-out) I already knew The Dark Knight was going to be my favorite movie that I’ve seen in awhile. And I told everyone I knew. Which is why it’s a good thing it did turn out to be as amazing as I expected, because I HATE having to lie in order to save face. Unlike a lot of movies that are way overhyped and don’t live up to our expections, cough, Sex and the City, cough, The Dark Knight, and especially Heath Ledger, was everything I hoped and more. I left really psyched and also really pissed off that Heath was dead and wouldn’t be back for the third in the new series of darker Batman movies, while idiot trolls like Brooke Hogan still walk around flapping their gums. Sigh. Not fair. Anyway, if you haven’t seen the movie and don’t want a second spoiled, don’t read on.

Countdown to The Dark Knight! Christian Slater Bale, the film’s Batman, was on The Today Show this morning and got to talking about co-star Heath Ledger. He disputes the rumors that part of the reason Heath was doing drugs that resulted in an accidental overdose is because he was “too immersed” in the character of the Joker. Clip above.

A new trailer for Batman: The Dark Knight is out and it looks crazy freaking good. Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal…and of course, the late Heath Ledger, who honestly looks like such a sexy McPsycho in this film, it’s no wonder some critics are buzzing that he could get the Oscar for his portrayal of the Joker.

Today would have been Heath Ledger’s 29th birthday (it’s also the 40th Anniversary of Martin Luther King’s death, lest you think we’ve forgotten what’s really important). While we’re still so sad that Heath left the world in such a tragic and unexpected way, we can’t wait to see his final contribution to the film industry in the upcoming Batman: Dark Knight. A couple days ago I wrote a post about my shameful fascination with Michelle Williams in the aftermath of Heath Ledger’s death. After remaining mum while weathering the non-stop harassment of paparazzi, she has issued a statement through her publicist, saying:

“Please respect our need to grieve privately. My heart is broken. I am the mother of the most tender-hearted, high-spirited, beautiful little girl who is the spitting image of her father. All that I can cling to is his presence inside her that reveals itself every day. His family and I watch Matilda as she whispers to trees, hugs animals, and takes steps two at a time, and we know that he is with us still. She will be brought up with the best memories of him.”

You’ve got it, girl.

I can’t decide who I’m more disgusted by: the paparazzi who camped out in front of Michelle Williams’ Brooklyn home and snapped a photo of her with baby Matilda, the gossip websites who bought and posted both the pictures and the video (Us Weekly and TMZ, we’re talking about you), or myself, for actually giving them what they wanted for it—page views. Needless to say, Heath Ledger’s death has been eating at me and lots of other women I know, but I’ll only speak for myself.

Outside of the fact that I clearly get a lil’ too much out of watching the lives of celebrities, this particular event is hitting kind of hard. I watched the tape of Michelle Williams arriving home, surrounded by paparazzi, with a sad fascination with the pain she must be going through, because I can’t imagine it myself. Obviously Heath was talented, but more than that, he was young and he was a father. I don’t know many 20-something fathers and I certainly don’t know anyone in my age group that has died so suddenly and with that much to lose. Maybe it’s the fact that kids and marriage are not far off in my future and the thought of losing someone at this age, and having a child, is an unimaginable tragedy. Watching Michelle gives a little glimpse into what that might be like. Her pain doesn’t give me pleasure, by any means, but I’m truthfully very sad for her and strangely curious to see how she handles it, as if it might reflect back what I would do and feel in the same instance.

Heath Ledger, who won loads of accolades for his performance in the Oscar-winning film Brokeback Mountain, has died of an alleged drug overdose. He was discovered by his housekeeper in his New York apartment. Ledger will be seen next (and possibly for the last time) as the Joker in the upcoming Batman film The Dark Knight alongside Christian Bale.
