Slideshow: Celebs In Their Finest In NYC, LA, & Venice

Victoria Beckham & Jennifer Lopez

Something tells me that dry cleaners are being kept VERY busy in New York and Los Angeles this week, as Fashion Week in NY and a million premieres in Tinseltown bring out the celebs in their prettiest garments.

Thoughts From Guys On Our IM: Fashion (Disaster) Week

Mary-Kate Olsen

I imagine that Fashion Week must be the most annoying ridiculous chain of events for straight men—it’s the week when a bunch of gay designers and pretentious fashion editors dictate what women will be wearing in the forthcoming months, and most of it looks like total crap in eyes of MAN. With that in mind, I decided to ask the guys on our IM about the fashion trends they find appealing on women and which ones the absolutely deplore. Surprise—two words rhyming with “pladiator scandals” popped up.

Fashion Week: Luca Luca, Marc Jacobs

Luca Luca and Marc Jacobs

Yesterday Luca Luca and Marc Jacobs were among the designers who showed at New York Fashion Week. We don’t really have anywhere to wear Luca Luca—the clothes are little too sleek, fancy, and space-age for our everyday needs—but the Marc Jacobs jacket thing (below, far right) rules our world.

Fashion Week: Carolina Herrera & Peter Som

Carolina Herrera dress

The image above is the back of basically one of the most beautiful dresses I have ever seen. Is it weird to get married and/or go grocery shopping in a dress like that, especially in that color? More from designer Carolina Herrera, as well as totally divine Peter Som, after the jump…

Fashion Week: Herve Leger, DVF, DKNY

Herve Leger, DVF, DKNY

So many fashion shows, so little time. This weekend there were even more runway runaways, with everyone from Diane Von Furstenberg (one of our overall favorites—I am even wearing a thrifted dress of hers today) to William Rast (that’s Justin Timberlake’s clothing line) showing in NYC. After the jump, are some of our favorite looks from Herve Leger (known for his bandage-style dresses), DVF, and Donna Karan’s sportswear line, DKNY.

Doesn’t the woman on the left look like she’s enjoying pulling the model’s hair? Beauty is pain. [Backstage before the Miss Sixty Show, 9/7/2008]

Fashion Week: The Hotness So Far

Rachel Comey

Oh, Fashion Week. How exciting you are. New York’s look at Spring 2009 started on Friday. After the jump are some of the designers whose newest wares struck our fancy, at least on the runway. We’ll be covering Fashion Week all next week as well, so stayed tuned for some other designers who made our stomachs turn. [Above: Rachel Comey]

New York Fashion Week: Geren Ford Goes For Jewel Tones For Spring 2009

Geren Ford Collection

Geren Lockhart, designer of the Geren Ford collection is having quite a year with her super-hyped Urban Outfitters collection. Lockhart also pulled out of LA Fashion Week, presenting instead last night at New York City’s Bowery Hotel.

The Spring 2009 collection was not much of a variation from the designer’s signature use of silk fabrics, utilitarian details, and simple, flowy shapes. Still, we ogled over the rich, jewel tones in the line. The models, who were presented non-traditionally on pedestals, sported items like floor-length electric blue dresses, pink tanks paired with moss green tiered skirts, and pleated shorts with ruffled tanks. There were also a number suit-like styles—shorts coupled with matching jackets and the like.

We were pretty ecstatic over the goody bag which, among a handful of beauty products and candy, included the collection’s signature silk scarf. It’s decorated with an abstract design that we’re told is a bit of a mind trick and actually represents something (like an animal or insect), but we couldn’t figure it out. Keep checking out Daily Candy this week—they’ll be giving the scarf away!

    Slideshow: Paris Fashion Week

    Christian LaCroix dress

This is the week when all the crazy Euro designers unveil their couture collections in Paris. Ninety-percent of the stuff that walks down the runway isn’t wearable by any, you know, normal person, but the garments are still pretty to look at. After the jump, the 10 looks that caught our eye and made us say, “Wow, that designer probably did some serious magic mushrooms back in the day.”
