Rag & Bone Eliminates Need For “Fat Jeans” And “Skinny Jeans”

Shopconfederacy.com

I own 14 pairs of jeans and can pretty much sort those pairs into two piles: the fat jeans and the skinny ones. Of course, I never actually get rid of the latter because there’s always the eternal hope that I will one day fit back into them. Rag & Bone has now come out with these handy numbers, which allow you to combine your piles into one. Feeling chunky? Leave ‘em unzipped. Just recovered from a week-long stomach flu? Zip ‘em up skinny style. [$287.40, Shopconfederacy.com via NY Mag]

Guess Which Designer Made This Awesome Denim Jacket?

Guess jacket

This brand-spanking new military inspired denim jacket was custom made and photographed for the Guess Fall 2009 ad campaign, which you can see in stores and magazines now. What elevates this piece beyond your standard denim fare is all the amazing metal detail, including chains and antique buttons stamped with 1981, the year Guess was created. The picture of the jacket has been such a hit that Guess is making more to be sold in stores later this year, and will retail for $179 and be sold in stores nationwide. Since Beyonce loves her Balmain military jackets so much, we wonder if she’ll rip this more accessible design off for her Déreon juniors line?

Diesel’s Magic 360 Mirror: Horrifying Or Awesome?

diesel 360 mirror

They say the truth will set you free. Sure, if it has absolutely nothing to do with you. When it comes to, oh, say, your pants size, it’s often best to deny, deny, deny in order to avoid imprisoning yourself in an uncomfortable reality. So when faced with Diesel’s new 360 mirror, there’s no escaping the truth: The “magic” mirror projects an image of the viewer’s behind in order to see how jeans fit. Installed now as an experiment in the retailer’s Madrid store, the device is meant to add ease when it comes to finding the right pair so that the shopper doesn’t have to ask someone how their butt looks or paralyze themselves by pulling an awkward spine-twisting movement. So, the question is, would you want to confront your butt, (and maybe get a better pair of jeans out of it)? Or just trust the opinions of salesladies and friends? Which, you have to consider, might not be entirely truthful. [High Snobette]

Quick Pic: Is Seann William Scott’s Denim Suit Hot Or Not?

Seann William Scott In New York City

We’re not big fans of the denim suit here. But if you are going to rock your own version, it helps to pair it with tattoos and scruffy hair like Seann William Scott did. That way, you’ll look like you belong to a biker gang instead of a chain gang. [NYC, 7/1/09]

We know you don’t want to hear it, but autumn will be here before you know it. Sex And The City: The Reason Women Wear Dresses

Bobbie Thomas spoke on Today about getting the fashions in the

movie. Are we sick of this movie yet? Well, I’m not so much sick of the movie as I’m sick of it getting credit for every trend that’s come along in the last decade. While discussing the movie’s fashions, Bobbie says, “Before Sex and the City came along, we were a denim culture, and women everywhere said ‘bye, bye’ to blue jeans and ‘hello’ to the dress. It came back. And there’s a dress for everyone, whether it’s sweet like Charlotte, sexy like Samantha, or even Miranda with the lawyer look.” I’m pretty sure women still wear blue jeans (this woman does), and that they also wore dresses before SATC (this woman did). Freedom Of Choice: Jeans That Have Nothing To Do With Roe V. Wade

Freedom of Choice jeans

We just got a press release in the mail for a new line of denim called “Freedom Of Choice”, which we initially thought was named after the right afforded by Roe V. Wade. Not so! According to the designer, Nathan Menashe (of course, a man), Freedom of Choice jeans are for women who “need a pair of jeans that they can wear in the workplace and then go out in afterwards. They need all this plus that special detail that will make their jeans stand out from the rest of the pack.” Get it? Women need the freedom to choose jeans that they can wear in a board meeting AND when they’re out getting smashed with their friends. Take that, Roe V. Wade!
