Stop trying to make jellies happen. It seems like each spring, someone tries to bring back that childhood trend, and it just never gets off the ground, or makes you look like you’re 6 years old again, which is great for attracting pedophiles. Here’s a playful alternative that brings a bit of the jelly feeling—these bow sandals by Melissa are plastic-ly perfect and undeniably adorable. Is it just us ... or do you kind of want to put these flip-flops in your mouth?

Here’s our favorite geek-chic item of the day: Sunshine In a Jar contains a high-tech solar cell, a rechargeable battery and low-energy LED lamps. Just place the jar in a sunlit area during the day so the battery can charge for a few hours. By dark, the light sensor inside will automatically activate so that the lamps inside the jar will cast off a soft and non-intrusive glow to light your home or garden during the night. It’s the cutest remedy for S.A.D. we’ve ever seen!

We’ve found the perfect perfume. And it’s perfect precisely because it doesn’t smell like perfume. Byredo’s Eau de Parfum in Blanche is, like the name implies, clean and pure. The fragrance is vaguely close to a soapy, laundry odor, but it isn’t that either. The best way we can describe it is this: It smells like your skin, but the way you’ve always wanted your skin to smell, as if you’ve just gotten out of the shower. Its distinctive yet natural presence on your body has (at least for us) a sort of carnal, pheromone-like effect, sort of like how guys love the scent of your hair. True, it’s a very luxe splurge. But perfection does have its price.

We’re looking for inexpensive ways to update our spring wardrobes, so we have these button earrings from Casa Di Culture on our shopping list. We’re especially loving the Omi design, which means water, because it’s simple enough to wear with jeans and a T-shirt, but will also make a spring dress feel even more special. (Check the site for earrings in other vibrant colors.) Plus, these are also made of eco-friendly batik fabric from Nigeria. Cool, right?

CND’s Colour & Effects line of nail polishes made to layer is genius, and since spring is all about bright colors, we’re happy there’s “Sugar Buzz,” a limited-edition combo that’s the manicure equivalent of a cupcake. Paint your nails with the bubblegum pink Sweet, coat them with a layer of Sugar Sparkle, and you’ve got yourself a yummy treat on your hands.

What makes a good book? Some might say it’s when you really identify with a character. Personalized Classics takes things one step further by allowing you to actually be that personality—order your customized version of Alice in Wonderland, indicating what names (your own, for example) you’d like for the characters, title, and dedication. Within 30 days, you get your cute special version of the book, complete with a cast list and personalized notebook. So now, when you read your favorite story, you’ll fall even further through the looking glass than you did the first time. But when you start chasing white rabbits in real life, don’t say we didn’t warn you.

For all the weird things about your grandmother’s house—the rampant use of doilies, the weird macaroni-like smell, the plastic-encased couch—there was a certain charm to it all. Channel that now with these kitschy “granny’s spaniels” ceramic plates from Urban Outfitters, which are just corny enough to be hip. With a hand-painted aesthetic, there’s no way to not feel warm and fuzzy inside as those cute puppy dogs stare up at you.

Everyone needs a perfect spring sandal. We’re talking about the type of shoe that’s basic and comfy enough to go with your usual outfits, but also has a little something extra for your fancier ones. That’s why we’re loving these Frances-Stud flats by Topshop. Pink leather, gold trim, and a braided design down the front make these cute kicks the type of noticeable item your friends will want the deets on. Our recommendation: “Ohhh ... I got these in a little indie boutique somewhere, I forget where.” Otherwise, you’re going to have a case of copycats on your hands. (Or feet.)

You’ve probably seen about a million resort-pretty striped dresses, which, if you want one, makes choosing seem both difficult and pointless. We emitted an excited “eek!” when we realized this breezy number by Velvet wasn’t your average tank dress. While the front features a standard scoop neck design, the low-cut back with triangular seams on the butt is unexpectedly sexy. For the brave (or those vacationing in European countries with topless beaches), go braless. Still, we’d wear this design over a bathing suit, or even with a white or navy bandeau bra for casual outings.

Here at the Frisky, we may act like big city girls who have lived here all our lives, but our roots are spread far and wide. It’s important to remember where you come from, which is why we’re crushing on Maya Brenner’s State Necklaces. Hold a little piece of home close to your heart whether you hail from a place as big as Texas or as far away as Hawaii. Choose from sterling silver or gold silhouettes, and for a little something extra, add a tiny diamond detail. And for those whose hearts are torn, there’s the Bi-Coastal necklace with both a California pendant and an apple to signify New York. Home sweet home.

Bet you don’t have anything like this in your jewelry chest. Aldo gives a softer side to the bib necklace by incorporating these embroidered fabric discs with a chunky gold chain. We’re loving the geometric flower designs that have a slight Scandinavian vibe going on. Just goes to show you that a statement necklace doesn’t necessarily need ostentatious bling to make it special.

It’s around this time of year that a mildly warm day somehow causes people to forget the fact that it’s still cold outside. But we applaud you for making that ambitious effort when you stepped out in just a blazer, and proceeded to shiver your way to work. Still, we get that you’re ready to move on from your bundled-up winter wardrobe. A solution: Ditch the heavy knits and go for something lighter. This Banana Republic scarf, made of super thin material, is decidedly non-somber with its light heather gray or sky blue color options. Stay chic and warm with your lightweight spring coats, then keep it around the office as a wrap for when they start pumping the air conditioning in a few months.

After seeing this cute bathing suit, we’ve decided to launch the campaign for one-pieces this spring. Boo bikinis! (Kidding.) But there is something subtly sexy about this floral print suit with an almost boy-short cut. A ruched tie detail at the front accentuates your curves (in a good way), while structured boning lends support to the girls. For extra comfort, there’s a detachable halter band. Pair this with a super-wide brimmed straw hat and big glasses to make it vintage glam.

This backpack from old-school Swedish company Fjallraven might not seem like a standout fashion accessory, but we’ve just got a feeling about this one. It seems like the type of utilitarian product, like LeSportsac was in the beginning, or those Manhattan Portage messenger bags that were all the rage a few years back, that could easily become the next everyone-and-your-mom-has-one item. The design for the shoulder-strapped pack has been around since 1978, and we’re into the simple, outdoorsy aesthetic. And just like you’d expect, the bag is made with top quality materials, notably Vinylon, a durable yet lightweight waterproof fabric.

Taiwanese designer Lee Weilang’s Zipper Cups are so charming that they make having tea quite a titillating, bonding experience. The white ceramic mugs feature a zipper with a slit down one side. The cute design reflects two people coming together for conversation and also, conveniently, holds their tea bags in place. Who says fashion can’t be functional?

For us, browsing Delia’s is like looking through a window into our teenage pasts. Remember the joyful day, once a month, when the new Delia’s catalog would arrive in the mail, and you’d carefully circle items and dog-ear pages? Those days may be long gone, but we still get kicks out of browsing the teen-tastic goods on their new-fangled website. And sometimes, we even find an all-ages gem, like this chambray ruffle dress, which brings the girly, but seems a bit more grown-up thanks to the slate color. [$44.50]

More often than not, calendars are downright frightening. See: pictures of babies dressed up as flowers, the near-naked Jersey Shore fire department, nude middle-aged women à la “Calendar Girls.” If turning the page to see what greets you for March elicits a cry of terror, then perhaps you’re in the market for something a bit more subdued. Try this visually pleasing poster by Lene Mirdal. The design-y “all year round” calendar features a cool, colorful graphic that spells out 365 days quite plainly. So you can rest assured: there are no surprises.

One of the best purchases a girl can make is a pair of basic meant-to-be-worn boots. Now, accessories company The 2 Bandits is giving you an even better reason to show some boot lovin’, with their cute boot bracelets that sit on the upper half calf. Adding some flare to your winter uniform, the bands lend a variety of new flavors to your kicks. The Moondance collection adds some shimmer with stripes of gold mesh, plus, there are the Fleetwood or Sunday styles with their brooch-like center pieces.

Cats would be the perfect house pets if you could just train them to do their business like dogs. Or people.
Because if you’re a cat owner, you know that dealing with the litter box is everyone’s least favorite chore. Not to mention how those ugly things completely mess up your bathroom decor. For the design-happy, there’s the colorful ModKat litter box, a sleek contraption for Whiskers’ wee-wee time. Cats enter through the hole on the top (they’ll get used to it) and take their time inside the box. The perforated roof catches excess litter from kitty’s feet to eliminate mess. You’ll also save on plastic bags, thanks to the reusable tarpaulin liner. Kind of makes your toilet look lame in comparison, huh?

Sometimes you just need a little fashion pick-me-up. This is all good, just as long as you don’t let your “treat” turn into an oops-I-accidentally-blew-my-rent-on-a-pair-of-shoes. This Forever 21 t-shirt is the perfect option. A basic with a fun bow detail, it’s just enough to add a bit of newness to your wardrobe this week. (We’d pair it with a blazer and some smart bottoms at the office.) Oh, and it will cost you less than lunch. Wins all around.
