It seems that some couples in music, including Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, see a drop in record sales after getting married. Do Jay-Z and Beyoncé need to worry about being less successful now that they’re married? Um, no. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw’s record sales are but one example of a successful marriage coupled with solid record sales. As if we already didn’t know that famous people are allergic to birth control and condoms, the New York Daily News is reporting that Beyonce may be pregnant with Jay-Z’s love child and that may explain why they rushed to wed this past weekend. Guests were told to wear ivory to Jay-Z and Beyonce’s wedding on Friday (that’s Gwyneth Paltrow arriving, above); I wore a white dress with black piping to a friend’s wedding in October and got dirty looks (but only compliments from the bride, thank you very much); traditional etiquette says that wearing white to a wedding that is not your own, is bad manners. The Puppini Sisters may sound like a ‘40s girl group, but their songs are thoroughly modern. On their new album, The Rise and Fall of Ruby Woo, they cover Beyoncé’s “Crazy In Love” and the Bangles’ “Walk Like An Egyptian” in addition to original material. It is really funny, though, to hear such an old-timey group harmonizing about things like not trusting the advice in a Cosmo quiz. On “Jilted,” the sisters, who aren’t really sisters, sing, “How did I get it so wrong?/I tried new positions, I learned his friends’ names, I made myself sit through football games…,” but we’re guessing that women back in the day had similar issues, even if they didn’t need to feign interest in ESPN. Brenda Dickson was a soap star who played villainess Jill Abbott on The Young and the Restless from the 70’s through the 80’s.
