On Friday, Ashley Tisdale (“High School Musical”) appeared on the Spanish talk show “El Hormiguero” and was gushing about Barack Obama. Next thing you know, an Obama impersonator was wheeled out for her to give a lap dance to. She doesn’t actually go anywhere near his lap, but still, it’s pretty funny.

This week, Barack Obama headed to Egypt with a pretty big mission in mind: smoothing over relations between the United States and the Muslim World. The pinnacle of his trip—a speech at Cairo University yesterday afternoon. In his speech, he emphasized the need for tolerance, not confrontation, between peoples, genders and religions in our increasingly interdependent world and called out for global cooperation as the only way to solve the problems we all currently face. But we were especially interested in what he had to say about Muslim women. After the jump, the words straight from Obama’s mouth.

Individuals who classify themselves as multiracial are the fastest growing demographic group in the U.S. According to the latest census estimates, the number of multiracial people increased 3.4 percent last year to around 5.2 million. Americans were allowed to identify themselves by more than one race on the census for the first time in 2000 and their numbers jumped 33 percent. This group now makes up 5 percent of the minority population, but it’s suspected that millions more have been uncounted. Experts attribute the rise to greater acceptance and less immigration.

Did you know President Obama is growing a mustache? The White House hasn’t released a press release saying as much, but it didn’t go unnoticed that the Prez was rocking a noticeable arc of fuzz above his lip on his trip to Saudi Arabia this week. As he seems to have shaved everywhere else (well, on his face), we can only assume Barack is bringin’ the Presidential ‘Stache back. We’ll do our civic duty by charting its progress.

Last night, part one of “Inside the Obama White House” aired on NBC with the dreamy Brian Williams hosting. The behind-the-scenes look at a day at the White House makes us want to quit our jobs to hang out in the Oval Office (or, you know, answer someone’s phone). Since Williams makes a point of pointing out the music staffers play, including the national security advisor’s preference for U2, we couldn’t help but notice the music NBC chose to accompany the hour-long special.

Um, can I go on a date with the president? This Saturday, Barack Obama and his stunning date, first lady Michelle, jetted to New York City for romantic night on the town: dinner and a Broadway show. They chowed down at Blue Hill, then drove up the blockaded Sixth Avenue, where massive crowds lined the sidewalks, and headed to Belasco Theater to see “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone,” a play about black America in the early 1900s.

“I am taking my wife to New York City,” Obama said, “because I promised her during the campaign that I would take her to a Broadway show after it was all finished.”

Nothing says ‘I Love My President’ like a tin of pomade. At least, that’s what the folks at Murray’s must have been thinking when they debuted the ‘Murray’s for Obama’ specialty tin, which is filled with their legendary hair pomade and conditioner. The orange-red can is stamped with a drawing of President and first Lady Obama rocking some pretty classic ‘fros. We totally love Murray’s—that s**t works, but we wonder if they took too much liberty with the Obamas likeness.

Well, whether it’s perceived as cool or too caricature-like, it is for a good cause. The collectors item sells online for up to $4 or $7 bucks a pop, depending on size and a portion of the proceeds goes to support charities. In the eighty-plus years the company has been around this is the first time they have created a custom product for a sitting president. So maybe it is a stylin’ honor.  [Murrays]

Is it “Hate on Michelle Obama” week? Supermodel Iman told Parade Mrs. O is “no great beauty.” Now, comic Jay Mohr is adding his two cents. During a call-in on “The Jim Rome Show” on ESPN, he went off on a mean-spirited monologue about the First Lady.

On Saturday, Barack Obama hosted the White House Correspondents Association Dinner. The annual gathering of politicos, journalists, and celebrities has evolved into a famous person prom. What do Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore have to do with corresponding with the White House? We don’t know. The event has become a presidential comedy show, and last night our Jokester-in-Chief spared no one—from his kids to pirates. [USA Today] — After the jump, his best zingers.

Get your party poppers ready—it’s Barack Obama‘s 100th day in office. There’ve been bumps in the road, what with the economy tanking and two wars underway. Still, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll, 68 percent of Americans approve of Obama’s performance thus far, rating highs not seen since the days of Ronald Reagan and John F. Kennedy. The editors of Ms. have concluded that President Barack Obama made “giant strides for women” during his first 100 days by reversing some of the Bush administration’s most flagrantly conservative policies and by making the advancement and empowerment of women a priority. “By any measure, the work President Obama has done for women and girls in the first 100 days is impressive. I have been working for women’s rights in Washington since the Carter days and I have never seen anything like these first 100 days,” said Ms. publisher Eleanor Smeal in a press release. “In employment, reproductive rights, and global women’s rights, thus far he is keeping his promises.” Find out the key Obama administration actions for women and children after the jump.

Walgreens stores in Chicago and Tampa have removed the Chia Obama from their shelves because they’ve deemed it “objectionable.” “Since when is an Afro racist?” asked Joseph Pedott, founder of Joseph Enterprises, which manufactures Chia Pets. “Owners can trim Chia Obama’s ‘hair’ to any length they want,” he added. I personally don’t see what’s so offensive. Joseph Enterprises, which doesn’t have any plans to halt production, is just trying to capitalize on Obama hysteria like so many other entrepreneurs. Seriously, Walgreens? The Chia Obama is basically a Chia Head, so where else did you expect the plant to grow from? His nostrils? Get over it. The Obamas went to Europe, and they got (and gave) more than crappy souvenir T-shirts from all of the countries they visited.
