Every once and a while they publish these silly reports that show, through an extended family tree, just how famous people are related to each other. Last time the media latched on to a story like this, we found out Dick Cheney and Barack Obama were related. This time, the news is a lil’ better for ol’ Barry, as it seems he is a distant kin of Brad Pitt! Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton is somehow related to Angelina Jolie. Umm, question: how can we get our hands on this funny little blood line determining gizmo? We’d like to find out the likelihood of ever receiving a “Happy Holidays From The Jolie-Pitt Clan” card. President Barack Obama’s first name means blessed by God in Arabic. He was born to a white mother and African father and has admitted it was a struggle growing up dealing with his multi-racial heritage. He received his B.A. from Columbia University and his J.D. from Harvard Law School. While at Harvard, he became the first African-American President of the Harvard Law Review, which gained a lot of media attention. It ended up leading to a book deal about race relations. He taught Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago Law School for 12 years. He then served three terms in the Illinois State Senate from 1997-2004, before being elected junior U.S. Senator of Illinois in 2005. He was the fifth African-American Senator is U.S. history. In November 2008 he was elected the first African-American President of the United States and was sworn into office on January 20, 2009. President Obama is an avid sports fan and loves playing basketball. He has a beer named after him in Kenya, where his father is from. In 2006, he won a Grammy for “Best Spoken Word” for the CD version of his autobiography Dreams From My Father.
Politics aside, I think Barack and Michelle Obama are the cutest couple on the campaign trail (though John and Elizabeth Edwards were pretty sweet too)—here’s a video clip of Michelle describing how and why she fell for the Presidential candidate. It’s nice to see that even in the middle of a tough campaign, with all that mud-slinging and sleepless hours on the road, a couple like them still seems so in love. [You Tube]
Andrew Shue—‘member him? The resident Melrose Place hottie, founder of early 90’s non-profit Do Something, brother of actress Elizabeth Shue? Well, he was back on TV this week, looking finer than a grain of California sand, campaigning for Barack Obama. Shue isn’t just another actor throwing his two cents into the political ring—he’s a lifelong activist with clever, optimistic things to say that sound better than he even looks after all these years. It’s a pleasure to watch polysyllabic words slide out of his mouth! But Shue is more than just a nice, socially conscious, hot piece of ass; the Dartmouth grad cares about women and founded the largest social networking site for mothers, cafemom.com. Smart, sensitive, sexy, and he likes drama—this is man we can all keep our eyes on. [The Huffington Post]
Depending on which poll you’re reading, the Senator from Illinois may be in the lead in today’s Iowa Caucus. We’re not going to indicate where we stand politically in the current primary race, however, we will indicate where our lady parts stand—firmly in Obama’s pants…err, camp. The inspired speaker and youngest Presidential candidate is sex on a freaking stick. [CNN]
