I’m very against wearing scarves during the summer; they make your neck sweaty on hot days. But now that it’s officially fall, you’re permitted to break them out with reckless disabandon. While it’s not quite cool enough for a full-on knit wool number, a lightweight one will look seasonally appropriate with a dress, boots, and a cardigan. Maggie Gyllenhaal strolled around New York City yesterday afternoon with husband Peter Sarsgaard in what we think is the perfect fall outfit. Click through to find a thin plaid scarf to add to your closet.

What’s with all the plaid? Can we make some stripes or polka dots happen?

@camille905: You might not know this about me, but I’m a little obsessed with plaid. It’s my favorite color.
I’ll try to mix up the patterns a bit for you next time around.

I like plaid too, but it’s a new thing. Hey does anyone else love scrafs but feel weird about wearing them because they are large chested? Any thoughts or ideas? I have tons but I never where them, I put them on, think they look weird with bmy large chest and take them off.

@camille905: Stripes are my favorite, but I’ve been feeling plaid lately too. I like them together, even.
