Fashion Slideshow: Fun & Fancy-Free Flat Sandals

For whatever reason, we find that we wear heels more during winter than in any other season. When summer finally arrives, it’s like a breath of fresh air…for our hooves. Ahh, summer. Finally, a few months where we give our feet a break, put away the high-heeled pumps, and break out the flat sandals. Our toes are free to wiggle, are heels and arches are able to stretch out, and the dogs finally stop barking. While we totally love a traditional pair of flip-flops, from the dressed-down version (Havianas) to the dressed-up (bejeweled metallics from J. Crew), we’re psyched about all the other available flat sandals on the market. Ten of our favorites, after the jump! [Click the images for more information.] Keep reading »

Crave: Day-Glo Slides

These neon green slides ($10.40 from Old Navy!) probably don’t match any of your clothes, so they’ll go with everything. I don’t recommend painting your toes a bright color if you plan on wearing them because that would be totally ’80s and way too matchy-matchy. [OldNavy.com]

Prepare Your Feet For Their Summer Wardrobe

The temperature may or may not be warming up in your neck of the woods, but you’ve probably thought about — maybe even dreamed about — what shoes you’re going to wear this summer. (One of my favorite things about summer is that I don’t have to wear socks.) But before you start wearing flip-flops every day, know this: You need to ease your feet into whatever shoes you want to wear. Your feet get used to wearing heels, or boots, or whatever your footwear of choice happens to be, so they need a little time to adjust to something new. And, even if you have a favorite pair of shoes, try to alternate what you wear, and don’t forget to stretch your calves after wearing a pair of flat shoes for a while, as they can “strain the achilles tendon that runs from the back of the heel, and also the calf muscles in the back of the leg,” said Mike O’Neill, a spokesperson for the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists in the U.K. Or just go barefoot. Crave: The Best Of Old Navy

Every season, amid piles of cotton t-shirts and tanks, you can expect a few awesome pieces at Old Navy. I’m obsessed with the tie-neck blouses and D’Orsay flats and plan to fight my way through disorganized racks of clothing after work. Must. Have. Purple. Shoes. [Old Navy] Keep reading »

Crave: Wheel Of High-Heeled Fortune

Not having enough room for my shoes (or my clothes or my cosmetics or my anything) in the small apartment I share with the feef* is a major source of stress in my life, because in addition to being a shopaholic, I am also moderately OCD. Thankfully, Rakku Designs has come to my rescue. They’ve invented the handy-dandy Shoe Wheel, which can store up to 30 pairs of shoes (including high heels!) in small, attractive, and user-friendly packaging. It’s a little pricey at $65, especially when you consider that I will now have the closet space to buy even more kicks. [The Budget Fashionista]

*”Feef” is what I’m now calling my fiance, since I hate that word. I called him my “beef” when we were just BF/GF because that’s the way I thought “BF” would be pronounced as a word. So now he’s my “feef”. Feel free to use it.

Would You Wear This? The Paris Hilton Shoe Collection

Currently available on Zappos.com, Paris Hilton’s shoe collection has, um, pink and leopard print and looks the way her fragrance smells. Jessica Simpson, your fashion line has got competition! So what do you guys think? The “Icon” style makes me feel ill, but “Vogue” (in nude) is kind of cute and ladylike. [Zappos via Perez Hilton] Keep reading »
