Golden Globes 2014: The Best (And Some Worst) Accessories

Sure, the gowns are gorgeous and the hair and makeup are sublime, but do you realize how many dollars worth of jewelry “attends” the Golden Globes? A lot. Probably enough to make at least a tiny dent in our national debt, but I digress. There are also amazing shoes and handbags and hairpins to drool over, so let’s not waste anytime. Click on to see some of the very best accessories worn to last night’s awards show — and a few of the worst (we couldn’t resist)…

Sarah Palin’s Patriotic Stripper Heels Are Pretty Special

Let this be a lesson to all of you: dressing fabulously does not have to mean sacrificing your patriotism. Fashionistas who love America, I’d suggest tracking down Sarah Palin’s epic, star-spangled platform stilettos before they sell out. [via Jezebel[Photos: Getty Images]

Must Haves: Sparkly, Glittery, Sequin-y Shoes To Win New Year’s Eve

When it comes to New Year’s Eve, the goal of your outfit should be to make the disco ball jealous. The more sequins, glitter, rhinestones, and sparkle, the better. Don’t stop at a sequined dress — go all out with some truly show-stopping sparkly shoes, too! Here are 10 pairs I’m currently drooling over, most of which are around $50 or less. Oh, and they’re all from Zappos, because their shipping is so scary-fast that you’ll be sure to receive your fancy footwear by NYE (I swear I wasn’t paid to say any of that, I’m just obsessed with Zappos and secretly believe they employ precogs to ship my shoes before I even order them). Anyway, click on the gallery to let the New Year’s Eve sequined shoe parade begin!

Shop The Trend: Bright & Cool Kicks

I’ve never been a total girly-girl. For years, my personal style was pretty tomboyish: baggy pants, plain T-shirts, Doc Martens or Chuck Taylors, you get the picture. Once I moved to New York and started working in an industry that can be very image conscious, I definitely “tried on” a girlier sense of style. It took a while to figure out what I was ultimately comfortable in, but at 34, I can safely say that my sartorial instincts are a mixture of both. For example, if I’m going to wear a plaid flannel shirt, I’d ideally pair it with sky-high heels. So when I noticed a number of street style photos of super chic women pairing feminine cut pants, dresses, blouses and skirts with bright and sporty running sneakers, I was instantly intrigued. Street Style Spotlight: 15 Ways To Sport Sneakers

Trainers. Sneakers. Tennis shoes. Whatever you call them, sporty running shoes are not just for working out. A trend I’ve noticed like crazy across street style blogs of late is super fashionable women pairing their bright and funky trainers with outfits you’d never expect. Leather pants! Girly blouses! Ladylike coats! Imagine that trend in the ’80s, where working women would wear their running shoes while commuting, only the shoes stay on all day and actually look awesome instead of frumpy. I am into this trend! And I’m sure you will be too once you’ve clicked through these street style shots for inspiration…

Would You Wear These Pricey Designer Flip-Flops?

I don’t blame you if flip-flops are one of the very last things on your mind today. I know that I am personally far more concerned with hunting down functional yet stylish all-weather boots (digression: do these exist, and if so, please point me in the right direction) and a down jacket that won’t make me look like I’ve been pumped full of air from the neck down. In fact, just this morning I wondered aloud, “Will I ever feel warmth again?” Keep reading »
