New York Fashion Week kicked off this morning in the tents at Bryant Park. Inside the venue, there are Barbies everywhere — and not just the tall, thin, glamorous editors and buyers attending the shows. There’s a whole display that spells out “Barbie” in Barbies, each letter with a different doll. At today’s Christian Lacroix Haute Couture show in Paris, models wore polka dots, lots of tulle, and braided buns. In an interesting twist, their hair coordinated with their outfits. Now, my older sister painted her nails every single night for a year so they would coordinate with the next day’s outfit, and that was a lot of work.
