Men Wearing Jewelry, Attractive Or Not?

Comments (8) Bookmark and Share

Men Wearing Jewelry When asked about men and jewelry, quite a few of the women at The Frisky only like them to wear a watch and wedding ring, if they're married -- that's it! I grew up with a father who could pass for an extra in a mob movie, but he looks good. On a daily basis, my dad wears one or two gold chains, a wedding and a pinkie ring, a gold watch, an earring, and a gold bracelet. That sounds like a lot, but to me it's normal. If he were a woman I wouldn't think about all those accessories for a second. Couple that with the fact that jewelry is important in Caribbean culture -- most infants are given a pair of gold or silver bangles regardless of sex -- and you'd understand why I think a few precious metal adornments are all right on men. But I wonder if I'm alone.
When it comes to the men you date or are attracted to, how much jewelry is acceptable?

I went ahead and voted for “as much as he wants”, simply because this is such a non-issue to me. If I’m gonna rock jewelry, it would be ridiculous for me to dictate how much a man should wear *even though my boyfriend is jewelry-free* It is a bit tacky and ostentatious to wear a dozen gold chains, but who am I to judge?

They style of jewelry is more telling than the amount. Gold: blech. Silver can be stylish. Titanium is classier.

Do women really judge men by these standards when there is “such a shortage of men these days” *laughing up my sleeve*
Look, i’m a watch freak. I probably have 100 watches. My wife doesnt complain and my co-workers compliment how the watches match the outfit. Ditto the earrings. I change bracelets everyday, and i have several pinky rings. Not to mention the cross and a few gold chains that were gifts i wear one at a time. What does that make me? Trust me, i don’t consider how i’ll be judged when i don a sapphire pinky ring. If you have a problem with it you arent my type of person any old way.

Call me crazy but when it comes to me I date, a wedding ring is pretty unacceptable wink

I voted ‘watch and ring only’, because that’s my general opinion, but I agree with DancerNinja - style means so much more than amount. If he’s some pathetic creature trying to pull off rapper bling, ICK!! And personally I hate pinky rings for both men and women, that’s just a me thing.
But some guys can totally pull off jewelry. It just depends on his style. Could it be a dealbreaker? Absolutely. But that would be a decision I’d make on an individual basis.

I love a man with piercings. I voted for as much as he wants and can’t afford; I don’t think body jewellery really came into this question but that’s why I voted the way I did.
