You’re Hot. Your Mom Edits French Vogue. This Is What Your Apartment Looks Like.
Maybe the week after Mother’s Day isn’t the most tactful time to be envious of other people’s mothers, but, really, we wish Carine Roitfeld, the editor of French Vogue, was our mom the other 51 weeks of the year. Oh, if only Carine had delivered us, our apartment might look more like daughter Julia Restoin Roitfeld’s than a “before” pad on “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.”
Click through the pics on The Selby for Julia’s trés, trés chic abode, where all is bejeweled, furry, or white—the way we would have imagined it in our flannel bedsheet-ed dreams. Julia wears red lipstick and heels lounging on her couch! There’s a glass skull! Shoes galore! A single, artfully photographed can of Coke Zero! Top that, Bee Schaffer. Sorry, I’m a French teacher and I can’t help myself. You spelled ‘très’ wrong. You used an accent aigu and it should be an accent grave.
Like I said, I can’t help myself.

I hate apartments like those. It looks more like a clinic or inside of the fridge than a place where people actually live. Give me a “before” anytime. (By the way, “Queer Eye” folks ALWAYS shave off beards and cut long hair and turn every guy into a boring clone. I don’t approve.)

Oh god, if I lived there I’d be panicking about spilling stuff on the white furniture all the time…I like the jewellery, the shoes and the Kiehls stuff in the bathroom, tho. Oh to be rich and connected

I sure hope the decor is no reflection on her relationship with her mother… or her mother’s fridge [echo Oliveira]!

eugh, that’s hideous! I couldn’t imagine living in a place like that. It has no personality, and her shoes are not that cute.

yeah, that’s got kind of a sterile feel to it, but going minimalist is totally refreshing - I had to make the switch when I moved in with the bf two years ago, but I love it.

I know I should have been looking at her shoes, or the apartment as a whole, but the inner neat freak in me is screaming, “Get a damn toothbrush and clean those shower tiles!” Did anyone notice that grout? It’s dirty! I’m sorry, I’m a freak, I have problems.
