WTF?! Twins With Different Fathers

Twins With Different Fathers

Mia Washington of Dallas, Texas, gave birth to twins, but what she didn’t know was that an affair she had would be brought to light after the birth of her sons. Two of Washington’s eggs were fertilized by the sperm of two different men. After noticing that 11-month-old twins Justin and Jordan were developing different facial features, Washington and partner James Harrison decided the family should undergo DNA testing. Didn’t I see this on an episode of “All My Children”?

The paternity test found zero chance of the twins having the same father. “Out of all people in America and of all people in the world, it had to happen to me. I’m very shocked,” said Washington. Clear Diagnostics, the lab that conducted the tests, has never seen a similar result. “It is very crazy. Most people don’t believe it can happen, but it can,” said Genny Thibodeaux, the lab’s president. Although rare, this does happen in a handful of cases, and the medical world has even given it a name—heteropaternal superfecundation. This type of conception occurs when a woman releases multiple eggs during ovulation. If the woman gets it on, unprotected, with more than one guy in the same time span, then— bingo-bango —sperm cells from any of the partners can fertilize separate eggs.

Harrison said he has forgiven Washington and plans to stay with his fiance to raise both sons as his own. “It’s a day-by-day thing,” he said. “It’s going to take time to build that trust like we had.” The parents said they’ll tell the boys they have different fathers when they’re old enough to understand. However, Washington has no plans to tell the other father. [Impact Lab]

wtf, she’s like a shark. I just watched ‘In the womb’ on NatGeo this weekend and it showed how sharks can have multiple partners and all the baby sharks have different fathers. They shoot these giant sperm bullets all from different sharks.

well, at least the guy was caring enough to still take responsibility for the other child, thats a real man in my eyes.

I actually know two women who have two uteruses each. So they could theoretically both have the same problem one day!

The lesson we’ve learned: If you’re dumb enough to #&@$% another guy while you’re married and trying for a baby, be smart enough to wear a condom!

Didn’t we find out this was possible when Amelia was having psuedo sex with Ryan Gossling and Justin Timberlake?

LOL, Humblebee, we saw the same program, but that shark is shooting ammo without a gun, right? Then I recovered from laughing and disbelief in time to catch the “kangaroo with 3 vaginas” segment.

Anyway, I love the way Washington says she can’t believe “it happened to her.” Couldn’t be that sleeping with two men w/o a condom did it? She missed that part.

She has no plans to tell the other father? Well if he reads/watches the news (b/c I saw this story reported on AOL also) I’m sure he’s going to hear about it sooner or later.

the real father is out of the picture!  even if he does find out, it is probably too late for him because the other guy is probably listed on the birth certificate and has probably been supporting the mom and kid.  the real father probably wouldn’t have a shot at custody if he tried!

@um no, if Washington and Harrison are married at the time of the birth, (not an issue of birth cert) the child is legally his, unless diff in TX. Even in cases of rape of wife or adultery, same thing. Don’t know TX law, but would imagine the birth dad might have rights based on the fact that the birth was hidden from him—he didn’t have a choice.

@retro chic, i am not an expert on the laws, but the supreme court has made it clear that unmarried biological fathers have inchoate rights.  if the other man is on the birth certificate, the child is legally his.  i don’t know TX law either, but i imagine that the court would protect the legal father’s rights over the claims of a biological father who has never supported the child and failed to register for paternity before birth.

perhaps unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to matter whether unmarried biological fathers knew there whether there was a pregnancy.  if you have sex with a woman, you should be on notice that she may become pregnant!

um no, unfortunately what “should” happen and what “does” happen in reality are two different things, as we all know. Hidden pregnancies and paternities happen more than we know, more often than this case. It would make the national news if a guy knocked on each door of the women he had sex with carrying a bag with preg tests, asking “Did I get you pregnant?”

As for the birth cert, that is just paper subject to be changed upon evolving court-introduced info for determination of paternity—it is not unalterable—it’s the marital status that provides the rights until further action is taken, at least here is CA. As you said, the bio father has inchoate rights (at State Supreme level, have not heard of Fed Supreme Court), but has variations from state to state, where here a child can be adopted.

Speaking of “shoulds,” instead of that “gender test” on that other post, how about an at-home paternity test? Now that’s worth inventing/buying…

ha, speaking of hidden pregnancies. I have a friend who was having sex with two guys, now she is pregnant and she is not even sure who the father is. So she basically picked a father, and is now praying that the baby doesn’t come out black, because then it would be obvious that the baby is not his since he is hispanic. I know, how Jerry Spingerish. Women should take more responsibilty with their body and their actions.

@Retro Chic,
The kangaroo Vagina is CRAZY,
and your right, the sharks shoot out sperm bullets!
I love how they showed all the animals humping and getting it on, that was very funny and entertaining.
