Women Rule, According To Diesel
At the Diesel Jeans store in Paris, a new window display shows a female doll holding a very multicultural group of shirtless male dolls on leashes like slaves. Behind her, a slogan reads, “Women make the world go round.” This suggestion aims to put women on top, but does it? It sure is funny and eye-catching, but potentially has a negative and offensive subtext. Diesel’s advertorial agenda seems to read more like “Women’s money makes the world go round.”
What do you think? Hilarious or just too weird? [IPreferParis.net]

Notice that the woman doll has no HEAD? Probably not intended to be sexist, but subconciously, I think it sends a negative message.

If a female Diesel model wants to put a leash on me…you know what, I’d probably let them.

If this were reversed, a man holding leashes on semi-nude women, it would raise a lot of controversy. I don’t like this at all. Men don’t need to be humiliated, depicted as slaves, or vulnerable for women to look good and be empowered, we can do that all on our own. Maybe if the men weren’t on leashes it wouldn’t be so bad.

I don’t like the context at all. To me, it doesn’t suggest anything about money, instead, it suggests that men should be willing to be our puppets and we all belong on pedestals. No one should be willing to be treated like a puppet or slave, it’s demeaning. (Unless of course it’s part of sex play, then it could be hot).

I saw this today in Philadelphia and was totally weirded out. 1, it just plain doesn’t make sense. 2, those little man dolls are CREEPY looking! They all had eyes that were this weird, bright shade of blue and I felt like their eyes were following me as I walked past.

It’s stuff like this that makes me think we have a long way to go communicating with the opposite sex. I don’t know who thought of this marketing/visual scheme but it’s just foul. You can have a sense of humor about it but like another poster said, if this were the reverse scenario- some feminists would be crying from the mountain-tops calling it sexism.
There is such a thing as misandry (hatred of men) and female chauvinism (women who feel themselves superior to men) and it’s not something I want to see. I’m a woman, I don’t hate men and I don’t feel something like this is awesome or even necessary. The worst and weird thing is, I am of the belief that a man came up with this idea thinking that it would empower women… to buy the product of course.

Kinda reminded me of Muscle Koushinkyoku. And she’s got them on a leash just to keep them from running off.
