KoRn Guitarist Gets Jesus Tattoo To Stop Himself From Masturbating

One dude is going to extreme lengths to stop himself from masturbating. Brian “Head” Welch, who used to play guitar is that awful band KoRn (yeah, I said it!) and is already heavily tattooed, has gotten JESUS tattooed across his knuckles so he’s deterred from playing his own instrument. How not metal. He explains:

“The Jesus tattoo on my hand keeps me from masturbating and I haven’t been with a woman since my ex-wife left me almost five years ago. I go to those extremes to be like Christ and it works for me.”

Now I know as well as anyone how hard it can be to get over a bad breakup, but seriously?  [Needles And Sins]

I’m wondering if sex dolls and male prostitutes are off the list, since he didn’t rule either out. Also, I’m curious if inadvertently seeing a hot chick picking up dog poop in front of his house would cause him to explode.

Extremists bug me.  I thought it was cool that he chose to quit a band that he loved because he realized it was a bad environment in which to raise his daughter, but now he’s just loopy.  I don’t believe being raised by a religious fanatic is much better than being surrounded by meth-heads.  In both cases the people are loony-tunes and potentially dangerous.

This is between him and God, why do we need to know this Brian ? He thinks he is being a good “example” of how God can change a persons life for the positive…but the implication and message he is sending implies you are not a good Christian if you have *normal* sexual urges (which God has given a human) and you find self release. Save the self righteous lecture Brian and go help the homeless. WWJD !

He’s not an extremeist… he’s just doing what he believes. And I find that awesome!
He’s doing what is best, and you judge him for it?
Would it be better if he had been with many women?
Because that would be, what people call “normal”?

That thought just sickens me.
Its said where society is going.
In fact, I can honestly say that I am proud of him.

1. It’s obnoxious when people ‘proclaim’ their great faith as though they deserve a prize.  Even worse are the ones who use religion as a justification for their lives and a weapon against everyone else’s simultaneously.

2. We pass plenty of (well deserved, imo) judgement on others religions when they do extreme things.  Like, say, I don’t know, crash planes into buildings killing thousands of innocent people?  This isn’t on that level obviously, but don’t put your business out there if you don’t want people to have an opinion.

3. Under the rules of regular Christian faith (much less the extremists), just about all of us are going to hell anyway.  I’ve met more so called ‘good’ Christians who were lousy people than I care to count.

I think that “Jesus Tattoos” sounds like the title of a work of art, painted in a way reminiscent of the old masters, depicting Jesus working the needle gun.

I also think that Jesus would think it was stupid to tattoo his name on your hands as well as stupid to not masturbate.

And finally, if you really don’t want to masturbate, don’t tattoo “Jesus” on your fingers. Tattoo a picture of Rush Limbaugh on your penis.

I believe Jesus said if you do your good deeds before men to get kudo’s and high acclaim (like the Pharisees) you have received your “reward” and will not recieve one from your Father. Is that his intent in his public comments, why else be public about his private sex thing. Believe me when I say I spent 15 years as one those fanatic Evangelical finger pointers and was guilty of it myself. I was judgemental and mean
( all the while saying it was just “the Lord’s Word” which gave me license to be so) and so were the others I hung with (the EV crowd) I have since seen the error of my way. First of all, the majority of Korn’s music is social commentary as well as reflection on their own personal demons and hardships. I highly doubt anyone here has taken the time to read their lyrics or have listen/read about where they are coming from/purpose behind the music. Same applies to Mindless Self Indulgence. Look beyond the superficial folks.

Second, he didn’t just leave because the environment of the band was bad for raising his child. Many other band members in Korn have children who seem to be quite well adjusted and “normal.” He was actually the MAIN member who got into drugs and alcohol. It was his choices and his predisposition to addiction that go him to that point, not the band.

I sort of love how this is supposed to be a place of open-minded people when really, the judgment and self-righteousness oozes off the screen… Let’s try and not be hypocrites.

As long as he is not negatively affecting those around him, he has the right to live the life he wants to without people passing judgment on his choices. Till this day, I’m still looking for a philosophy that stands by the idea “Stay out of my business and I’ll stay out of yours.” But alas I believe none exists. @CheeeeEEEEse, SkepticalOne, lawyrgrl, and retro chic (and _jsw_, if you’re perusing):

I think I won’t be outing anyone by saying this in an edited manner, so here goes…

I am the sensitive, liberal, artistic son of an ex-preacher who participated in the civil rights march on Washington when Martin Luther King Jr. spoke. I was bused to a desegregated school as a child, and have had relationships with at least three women who are not of my race (white). My youngest brother has had a 10 year relationship with a woman who is not of our race. So you see where I stand on civil rights in this country.

However, I have an older brother who is a conservative, racist, gun-toting, alcoholic who happens to be a high-ranking executive at a major manufacturing company based in the U.S. How he got there I don’t know, but he seems to be high-functioning despite his faults. We have never had a good relationship, and I decided to end contact with him about 20 years ago. He still tries to call me up now and then to tell me what a disappointment I am.

I’ve been unemployed for a little while, and have been looking for work, so I have been accepting unemployment insurance and food stamps for the time being. I believe this is my right, as it is any person who is a citizen of our country. After all, I’ve been paying taxes for 26 years now.

I got a telephone call from him in the middle of the night about a month ago. I suspect he’d been drinking, as he usually is when he decides to call.

“So dad tells me you’re looking for work.”
“Yeah.”
“What happened?”
“My boss was trying to pay me below the minimum wage limit for the State, so I was forced to quit because he refused to give me a raise. I reported him.”
(the boss actually called me a greedy motherf***er)
“Are you taking food stamps?”
“Yeah. So? I need to eat.”
“You need to get a job.”
(I think I know that already)
“Did you vote for that Obama n****r?”
“I’m hanging up. Don’t call me again.”
“That Obama n****r is leading us down a path to socialism.”
*click*

So you can see what I’ve had to put up with for the last 42 years. My dad thinks maybe there’s a chemical imbalance in his system or something, but it still can’t explain how he hasn’t been exposed yet, unless he has enablers to assist him. He’s pretty convinced that God is on his side.
I’ve always been a rational person who never really felt like getting involved with politics. I even turned down the chance to attend Boy’s State in high school because I figured I’d rather pursue an art career.

So now you know where I stand. In the same family as a conservative wingnut who’s helping steer the capitalist tour bus. I’m pretty sure Glenn Beck would have a field day with me.

It’s terrific for him and his kid that he’s clean, but does he have so little self control he needs to tattoo something on his fingers so as to not forget not to wax his carrot?

I’m pretty sure Glenn Beck would have a field day with you ONLY becuase you like to stereotype and be judgemental.  Step outside your own experience for two minutes and look around.

And to anyone else who bitched about the tea party this weekend - it is THEIR right to complain and picket, just like it is YOUR right.  That’s one of the most amazing things about living in the US and one of the reasons I love about living in DC.  There are marches and demonstrations just about every weekend and it’s a wonderful pictorial of where I live and why I’m happy to do so.

Of course these individuals had a right to protest, however they were protesting on the basis of false information. It’s one thing to protest, especially if you have done the extensive objective research needed to get all the facts straight. It’s another thing to spew ignorance and bigotry in the cover of freedom of speech. These same people I am discussing screamed at a man wearing traditional kente cloth about how he should “wear normal American clothes or go back to his country,” as he got off the metro stop. Thats not protesting in the name of a good cause. Thats blatant ignorance and fear mongering. I can’t tell you how many Americans have looked at me with disgust when I told them that I A-wasn’t an American and B-had no intention of getting citizenship. This isn’t bitching. YOU were the one that started the off topic piece.  I just responded to it.

@retro chic = grin  I did though, mostly from SkepticalOne and effing hickster.  People have the right to express opinions without having the spelling on their signs corrected.  grin

Wow, thanks for the link, Cheeeeese, that guy is very brave.
I really wish I could go down there and incite trouble, just to get some people arrested.  With that kind of hostility, you know they’d be throwing punches, and quickly. I’d happily take one just to watch one of them carted off to jail. The Abby Hoffman in me just wants to go and cause a spectacle.

Similarly, it would be amazing fun to infiltrate a group of the teabaggers and wait for them to say something racist or threaten the President’s life, then get that on tape just like they do to ACORN.

Unfortunately all the whackos around here already know and despise me!

@PotteryGirl:  Indeed they do, just as Hickster has a right to make fun of them for being illiterate jackasses.
I recently had someone I don’t even know say I was taking away their freedom of speech by defriending them on Facebook.
Everyone has a right to say whatever they want in a public forum, and I have a right to say they are misinformed idiots.

Let me point out how it’s all fine and dandy that he’s against yanking his own chain but his tattoo idea goes completely against the scripture that he presumably follows:

Lev. 19:28
“You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the LORD.”

Not that I’m by any means a bible banger or “holier than thou”, I was just raised in a Christian household that likes to debate about the bible and stuff like that quite often.

Damn it. Why can’t we have just one discussion about the prevention of masturbation via Jesus finger tattoos without it devolving into a fight over socialism? Just once? Anymore, as soon as I see “Jesus finger tattoos” I know it’s only a matter of time before the national health plan comes up. It’s worse than the circumcision topics.

So… back on topic please: how is it that Jesus finger tattoos stop masturbation? As far as I can tell, all you’d see when doing it is a sideways “J”, which sort of looks like an erection, which I’d think would encourage masturbation. I just don’t understand how it stops it, and I’ll never be able to figure it out if you people keep talking about sign grammar.

Of course I know that I was the start of the spin off. But as I can tell, you misunderstood my post. I was not disavowing anyones right to protest. Again, its the misinformation and in turn the violence that I saw that frightened me.  I shall stop discussing as miscommunication seems to be surfacing.I am truly sorry if you took offense. That was not my intention at all.

I think the best part of all of this is that I am defending people who I don’t agree with.  LOL.  I just really take offense to elitist “correct their spelling” and other things I’ve read in this thread.  Just because someone is christian or conservative doesn’t make them stupid, crazy, racist, or judgemental.  This thread has read like the Washington Post or something Chris Matthews might vomit up on his “news” show.  Spouting being “open minded” but only open minded wiht those that agree with your opinion.

Off to read more about shoes and Taylor Swift.

It’s the ignorance, bigotry, and fear-mongering that I was trying to bring light to.

Those who say that immigrants have no rights don’t seem to realize that we were not the original occupiers of this country. Also, much of the toil it took to build up our country was on the backs of slaves. “Give us back our country” should be the rallying cry of over 100 Native American nations, not a bunch of sons of immigrants like ourselves.

I don’t know how many times it has to be pointed out, but the proposed health care bill WILL NOT COVER UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS on the exchange. Legal aliens will have to pay out of pocket for their own insurance, just as we do when we vacation in foreign countries, and verification will be required. Lastly, anyone who needs emergency care will receive it. Same as it would be for a U.S. citizen if they needed emergency care in most foreign countries. Any less would be inhumane.

Obama has provided a certification of live birth that shows him to have been born in Hawaii, and every single fabricated birth certificate provided by his detractors have been proven to be false documents. (I used to work as a clerk in a hospital, and many people tried to falsely obtain medical records from us or from the state. Do you really think some goofball lady from Israel could just ask for his birth certificate from another country and have it handed right over, no questions asked?)

Lastly, Medicare is a social program regulated by the government. Our public school system is a social program instituted and regulated by the government. Social Security and Unemployment Insurance are both social welfare programs instituted and regulated by the government. I pay taxes for these, you pay taxes for these, we all pay taxes for these. If we didn’t, there would be no safety net for any of us. Telling the government to butt out completely would greatly expose us to risks that are too great to handle individually.

I firmly believe that the arguments foisted on us by many of these protesters is both a veiled racist attack and a deliberate twisting of the facts in an attempt to confuse and obscure the main talking points. Everyone has the right to protest, but they are really shooting themselves in the foot by spreading dis-information and trying to derail any proper conversation. Okay, so I shouldn’t correct your spelling? Then don’t shout, push, shove, or spit at me.

In my earlier post, I was merely trying to show the misguided attempts to confuse the issues and the years of racist hate spewed at me by one of these so-called right-thinking Americans who happens to be my own brother.

Okay, rant off. I won’t do this anymore, because The Frisky is not the proper arena for this kind of debate.

And CheeeeEEEEse, I really do look like I’m in my twenties. Old is only a state of mind.

@Brandyalexander Could not have said it better.

@Potterygirl I applaud your support of free speech when you disagree with the message.  However, I disagree with your stance on the issue of the signs many of the protesters carry.  Pointing out that many of the “teaparty” signs have wildly inaccurate spelling and punctuation does not make us elitist.  It makes us educated.  Are we expected to ignore the fact that the person who created the sign is either illiterate or careless?  The fact remains that it makes them look foolish and undermines their credibility from the start.

It’s totally different, Green Aura.  It’s some wack job (hey..I just cracked myself up!) celeb stirring up controversy because they’re weird.  If it wasn’t weird and outragious, I doubt anyone would even been talking about him and certainly Frisky wouldn’t have posted the article.

I think the only double standard is that he’s a celeb.  But like I said earlier, he put it out there to invite comment.  If you don’t want people talking about what you are saying (both approvingly and critically, then you shouldn’t offer up this kind of information).

@skeptical:  Not to belabor the point, but I don’t really appreciate being told I’m judgemental, self-righteous and hypocritical.  I actually have listened to most of Korn’s music.  I also have Brian Welsh’s book.  He said he left the band because he felt it was a bad environment for his daughter.  The realization hit the night his daughter began singing “All Day I Dream About Sex” at 3 years old.  Please don’t insinuate that I don’t know what I’m talking about.  Whether it is true or not is irrelevant.  That (in addition to the drugs) is the reason Brian Welch gave in his book for leaving the band.

As for my judgements on his behavior, I’ve seen it before.  It is extreme and potentially hazardous not only to him but to his daughter.  Live and let live is a wonderful philosophy until someone gets hurt.  Then all of a sudden people wonder why nothing was done.  All the red flags were there, but no one wanted to get involved.

I don’t think the singer should be criticized for trying to refrain from masturbation.  That’s what he believes in.

At the same time, I think it’s a little perverse to tell everyone you’ve tattooed Jesus on your hand to keep you from masturbating.  Now it’s impossible to look at his hand without thinking about masturbation.

Criticism is part of the celebrity package deal.

Masturbation is a natural, HEALTHY part of human sexuality, when I hear someone claim they don’t masturbate I think they’re either a liar or repressed.  But that’s my opinion.
