Trend Alert: Actresses Over 40 Get Naked!

It seems like a lot of actresses over 40 are stripping naked for roles these days. Sandra Bullock did it in “The Proposal,” Marisa Tomei got nakey in “The Wrestler” and “Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead,” Mary-Louise Parker took it all off on “Weeds,” Diane Keaton stripped in “Something’s Gotta Give,” and Kathy Bates went sans clothes in “About Schmidt.” What’s up with these relative oldsters getting undressed for the big and little screens? [ABC News]
What gets me is how these actresses (with the exception of Bates and sort of Keaton), who are supposedly so brave and daring, still have the bodies, hair, and skin of much younger women. Their chronological age is over 40, but no man would throw Sandra Bullock or Marisa Tomei out of bed for eating crackers. Their sex appeal hinges on the fact they’re older women who still look young.
Are 40+ actresses who look like they’ve got boob jobs, lipo, and the bejeezus Botoxed out of them really worth celebrating? Good for them for looking amazing, but what about actresses with bodies that reflect the way the average 40+ woman looks naked?

I agree with @Frisked. They’ve gotta compete, and if they’re still got it (faux or otherwise), let’s see it.

They can’t use the woman who accurately reflects what the average 40 year old woman looks like naked because then the fantasy is suddenly reality.

uh, what about actresses with bodies that reflect the way the average woman looks period? lets face it, celebrities do not have average bodies at any age. NEWS FLASH EVERYONE: the average is a size 12 or 14 for women. not 00-2.

to me I don’t think its competing. to those women over 40 and still look as good as they are, I say go for it. find all those roles to pose nude in. and believe me, there still alot of women over 40 and also over 50 that look dam great.

I don’t know if anyone else watches much Weeds, but Mary Louise Parker looked amazing when she did her nude scenes. I know my boyfriend has a huge crush on her, and I kind of do too. She’s inspired me to wear more dresses with how adorable she always is on that show. Seriously though, I do agree. Most of these women don’t look like the average 40 year old. At the same time, I’m not sure I want to see the average 40 year old.
It would be nice to see healthy women on TV. Something realistic that people on either side of the size spectrum can shoot for.

Three things.
1. How old is the nude model at the top of this page? I’m fairly certain she is not close to 40, which makes this story rather hypocritical.
2. It’s a sad commentary on the state of fitness and obesity in this country that the “average size” for women is 12 to 14. That is just unhealthy. Please, no outrage or excuses. I lost 45 pounds five years ago. You can, too.

Did you see The Wrestler? Marisa Tomei certainly was hot in the 90s, but she is still very hot today. Yes, you’re a moron because you’re close-minded. Don’t let a woman’s age fool you. Or are you saying Heidi Klum or Teri Hatcher or a dozen other women I could list are no longer hot? Open your eyes and your mind.
