When Is It Cool (Enough) To Start Wearing Tights?

We have to take issue with September because, yes, it makes us all giddy for fall fashion, but it’s often still too hot to wear most of it. Sweaters, fine—you can layer and take them on and off. But it’s not like you can so easily slip your pantyhose off when you’re walking down the street. (Or maybe you do. We don’t know.) Do you have this problem around this time of year? Where it feels really out of place to wear tights because even though it might be kind of chilly today, it seems weird that you were just sweating your ass off in a sundress in yesterday’s 80-degree weather? For us, September can often still feel like summer.
So far, our solution has been to go with something airy and neutral (because rocking nude tights sometimes feels a bit like mom fashion). That’s why we’re loving these Topshop pantyhose, which have a cute weave detail but don’t necessarily lend the heaviness of a black or gray nylon to an outfit. [$16, Topshop]

I avoid wearing tights as long as possible, but I do love over-the-knee socks as a more comfortable and cooler alternative. I make sure my skirt hem covers the tops of the socks. I Love Color has some great high socks.

I love wearing tights and knee-high socks, so I definitely feel this. I always want to wear them as soon as it dips below 80, but usually I save the tights until it’s solidly in the 60’s. I just wish that would happen sooner.

I wear tights when the day or night temp will be below 50. Pantyhose the rest of the time.I personally love wearing pantyhose or tights most days unless I’m in shorts.

I’m with cathie pantyhose - 50-55 degrees is a good mark for it. If it’s not that cool, I just feel weird covering up my legs even if I’m a smidge chilly.

I love tights! I try to wait til it’s at least 60s, though last week I was a little premature and had to take them off in the middle of the day.

Yeah I would say once the low for the day hits the 50s I pull out my tights. Really I could probably wear them to my office during a heatwave since it is always freezing cold in here. I already have my personal heater out at my desk, without it I would be too cold to function right now.

I want to bring back nude tights. I know people think they look stuffy, but they make my chubby knees look much nicer, and they make my legs look more slender (I’m a pear-shaped girl with thick tree-trunk legs). You can’t always where dark or bright tights. Can someone please get on board with me on this one?

I love nude tights and all color tights in fact. I even have some nude tights with sparkles in them.

I have already worn my pretty tights a few times since the weather has cooled down, I pair them with a short skirt and flats and tend to stay pretty cool, plus at work they are always blasting the air because I work in a salon full of menopausal women.. bonus!

Yesterday I wore black tights… for about an hour.
I got to work and still felt unsure about them. No one else came in for about five minutes, so I took them off and stuffed them in my bag.
I just suddenly felt silly for wearing them when it was only in the 60s.
