10 Pairs Of Gloves You’ll LoveYour mom doesn’t make you use those mitten clips anymore, so why are you still wearing the boring knit gloves they came with?
It’s evolved over time. When I was in my pre-teens, it was Jean Nate. (What? Stop pretending you didn’t wear it.) When I was in my 20s, it was Calvin Klein’s Obsession. When I was in my 30s, it was Chanel #5.
Now I’m 42, and it rotates between Philosophy’s Amazing Grace, Kenzo Flower, and Bath & Body Works Sensual Amber body spray. There are too many good scents to stick to just one.
9th grade i thought i was awesome b/c i bought BRUT aftershave and cologne from walgreens before the first day of class. i was in gym and one girl said “oh my god, someone smells like disgusting cheap cologne.” from that day forward my part time job money helped me pay for nicer smelling stuff.
Maybe they are wides. I dunno. Whatever everyone in Addison is smoking, that’s what I smell like by the end of the night. I’m just glad most of the bars don’t allow cigars.
@C.Munro - I assumed you were a smoker. Camel Wides are/were (don’t know if they are made anymore) ridiculously thick cigarettes, someone I knew a long time ago smoked them. Looked like tampons at least that was the colorful description back in High School.
Clinique-Happy Heart. It’s been my signature scent for years. I’ve experimented with many different perfumes, but I always seem to go back to Happy Heart.
back when i wore cologne nightly, i had to rotate about every 3 months. my cologne would start to smell like bug spray to me. i could buy a brand new bottle, and it was all bug spray. but if i rotated them about tri-monthly they smelled good. anyone else stop smelling their perfume/cologne after awhile?
@MuchoMacho: I think being unable to smell a person’s cologne anymore is just because we become so used to it so we can hardly smell it anymore, even though everyone around us still can. It’s something all of those middle school boys have yet to realize, thus why you gag every time they walk by with their cloud of Axe (at least I know I do).
I actually never used to leave the house without perfume. But it always made me sneeze and my eyes water when I first put it on (even though I barely used any). I just stopped using any, but I still get complimented all the time on the way I smell. I think it’s my fabric softener
@MuchoMacho: Not smelling the perfume/cologne you wear anymore is totally normal. You’re just so used to it. I think that’s why so many people take a bath in theirs because they can’t smell what’s right under their nose…but everyone else can smell from a mile away.
The smell of my armpits emitting the fragrance of whatever I ate the night before.
Today, it is a lovely bouquet of Tarka Dall, Sag Panir, Vegetable Masala, Vegetable Korma and Egg Pilau Rice…...
C. Munro: Stinking of cigarettes, eh? I used to smoke Lucky Strikes about a million years ago but I gave up about 3 or so years ago. I don’t miss ‘em, mind.
@lea - kind of what i was thinking. i used to be an over-sprayer. thankfully stopped a long time ago. now i get a spritz on the neck and just dap my wrists on it. but i still lose the smell after a few months and switch.
CK One. Don’t laugh, I’ve loved it since I was was in jr high.
other than that, I have a few bottles of essence my SO got for me while he was in Egypt, and they smell AMAZING. I can’t read the labels since some of it leaked out on the journey home, but, I’m fairly certain they’re both flower scents. I keep those for special occasions though since it’s not like I can just go out and buy a new bottle if they run out.
In the summer I like Ralph Lauren Blue. In the winter I like Amarige de Givenchy. I love Burberry Brit all the time. If I don’t feel like perfume I LOVE Bath and Body Works Coconut Lime Verbena body lotion.
Boise by Patyka, a friend of mine turned me on to their perfume, it’s all organic and it lasts forever, plus their combinations are so unique and timeless.
I love love love Chance by Chanel. I wear it all the time and my bf opened it the other day and smelled it and announced that he really liked it. He didn’t realize that that’s what I wear most of the time.
Jo Malone Red Roses…but I’ve been thinking about transitioning because right after “what smells so good?” comes, “it reminds me of my grandmother.” Booo
I’m a lime, basil and mandarin girl myself too. I got a bottle of pomegranite noir and though it’s too sweet for every day, it’s a great dressing up scent.
I was given Diesel Fuel for Life last year and I quite like that, but I’m so picky about perfumes.
Does anyone remember Charlie Red and Charlie Blue? Smells like Teen Spirit indeed!
I wear Chance Eau Fraiche by Chanel. My boyfriend would say that he prefers no perfume, that he hates heavy scents…but he loves this particular one. So do I, so I lucked out.
BPAL—Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab for me. Today I’m wearing Love in the Asylum, which is: A song of love and madness: two roses, tolu balsam and ambergris with vanilla, labdanum, tobacco leaf, carnation and tonka.
My friend calls them trading cards for goth girls, and it’s a little bit true. They’re also delicious perfume oils, so they last much longer than sprays and don’t have any of the alcohol smell that others get.
For special occasions: Kenneth Cole Black for women
And for the record, has anyone come up with a polite way to tell someone they flat-out stink or they’ve oversprayed? My mom wears Clinique Aromatics and/or Bath and Body’s sandalwood rose and just BATHES in it. It’s not just that the smell is unpleasant, I half the time end up with a headache or a sneezing attack.
Vera Wang’s “The Fragrance” (her original perfume, I think) has been mine since sophomore year of college. I’m always tempted by Chance de Chanel, though!
My mother used to wear Estee Lauder Youth Dew when my sister and I were kids. I remember not being able to pronounce the name. I would call it “Youf Doof.” That’s all I can call it now. Mom’s going to be 65 in a couple of weeks, and I just might buy her a bottle to remind her to be forever young - if I can keep myself from asking the woman at the counter for a bottle of Youf Doof.
For me it really varies. It used to be Amor Amor, which I still use every so often. But now it’s based on my mood and what I’m doing and where. I love Harajuku Lovers G because I adore coconut, but Pink Sugar is fun too.
But ever since I got some BPAL oils I haven’t used any of the others. The BPAL oil I use most - and at first sniff it smells so strong, yet goes on soft - is Hellcat.
Hellcat: A soft, sensual, luxuriant blend with a wicked bite: hazelnut, buttercream, honey mead, rum and sweet almond.
I also wear -
Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Bat: green tea, melon, mint, lime rind, and champagne grape with lemon balm, mullein, and toadflax.
&
White Rabbit: Strong black tea and milk with white pepper, ginger, honey and vanilla, spilled over the crisp scent of clean linen.
These oils are so addicting, and the scent lasts so long, they’re worth every penny.
we need some sort of survey of what men like in smells-I love my white flowers perfumes but guys either love it or think i smell like their grandma. It would be nice to have a ‘sexy’ perfume that I go to when I’m feeling like going on the prowl-right now I just use Cartier’s Delices for that.
I’ve worn Tendertouch by Burberry for a few years now and I love how it plays off my body chemistry. I went to sephora the other day and tried YSL Parisenne- my new love! I’m saving for it now.
I have tons of half empty bottles of perfume, mostly because I will love it, then my body chemistry will change and then it will smell completely different. My SO’s favorite on me is Coco Mademoiselle, probably because when I first fell for him I would put the tiniest dab on his clothes (without him knowing) so he would randomly smell it. Totally worked. It smells way too sweet for me now.
I have a drawer full of different perfumes. I love the Dior poison line, and Heliotrope. But my signiture scent is CK Obsession Night. It just seems to mesh really well with my chemistry.
As a side note, my husband’s signature scent is Armani He, and I looove it.
I like to switch my fragrances up depending on how I feel but my faves are St. Ives Whipped Silk mixed with Lavender Baby Oil, Lacoste Pour Femme, Marc Jacobs Daisy, Issey Miyake L’eau D’issey, Harajuku Lovers Love and Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Now / More Pink Please…mmmmm…....
dolce and gabbana light blue.
i’ve been wearing it for years.
i recently ran into an ex boyfriend whom i hadn’t seen for over four years. and he told me i smelled the same and it reminded him of when we used to lay together.
after four years!
hmm i wear a differnet perfume like everyday but sometimes i dont wear any at all but for some reason the guys always say like everyday that i smell like victoria secret so i guess thats my signature scent
looks like i’m not the only bath & body works luva!
if you haven’t tried twilight woods yet (it has NOTHING to do with the movie, ps) it is amazingly woodsy and warm and it’s my new signature scent.
i cannot get enough!
i bought the edt, the roll-on (so i’ve always got it with me in my purse!) and i’ve also got the shower gel and body lotion so that i can layer it on!
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
I loved Gap so Pink but I’ve been wearing Marc Jacob Daisy these days. But this article made me remember how much I love So Pink so I am probably going to revive that.
I rotate between three, with a fourth in when I need a change. As you can tell, I prefer sensual fragrances. I really can’t stand anything overtly floral or fruity.
Lolita Lempicka (original scent)
Thierry Mugler’s Angel, but only when it’s cold out, as the scent really doesn’t go well on me when the weather is warm
Victoria’s Secret Vanilla anything
Aquolina Pink Sugar (prefer the Chocolate but it’s hard to find)
I used to mix my own essential oils and wear my own creation. Can we please all wear less perfume, though? I don’t know how many times a chick walks past me in a thick cloud of whatever and it makes me gag. If I can smell you after you’ve gone it’s gross, regardless of the scent, be it expensive perfume, smoke, BO, whatever.
@MarieMacCee - I second that, if no-one else has yet…we ought to have the boys weigh in.
Gentlemen, what say you on how we scent ourselves? Is it the exotics, musky and laden with whispers of sultry nights that you prefer? Or is it with the innocence of flowers, tinged at the edges with a sweetness you can so very nearly taste? Maybe it is with the carefree brush of coconut or mango so that you can feel the warm sand when you touch her? Yet perhaps it is something else altogether…Queen Frostine’s Febreeze or C.Munro’s stale cigarettes? Mmm, sorry, likely not that ; )
Okay..so I totally get this scent thing… except this one time…
I had this boyfriend…and had just read something about signature scents, etc. I decided to go with Bath & Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar, because I figured vanilla scent was something fairly every day and he’d be thinking about me all the time.
One night, we were cuddling on his coach. He got close and said “mmmm vanilla”, so having had a few too many glasses of wine, confessed my vanilla secret. He looked at me with a sly grin and said “It smells just like the stuff I spray in the bathroom.”
Needless to say, I switched my scent fairly quickly.
Marc Jacobs Original- its a gardenia scent and I have it in the parfum and the solid compact in my desk for nights out when I can’t get home first. I love it.

I love it.
