The Girls Of Hedsor Hall: What Makes You Feel Like A Lady?
Today at noon, MTV is turning out the ladies! No, not in their typical Spring Break style, but real, proper ladies. They’ve taken a smattering of girls gone wild and sent them to a British finishing school in hopes that they’ll reform and refine themselves (or at least stop drawing on their eyebrows!). As students at Hedsor Hall, they’re guided by a team of etiquette experts. Alongside transformed party girl and former Miss USA, Tara Connor, are two tough teachers from the institution who previously worked their magic on the awesome Sundance show called “Ladette to Lady.” Now, they’re teaching their old world charms to these young bitches.
To begin the process, the students are first given a uniform and a string of pearls. Needless to say, this isn’t the kind of pearl necklace these girls are used to getting. It’s an unbelievably effective gesture, as you can see the pride they feel as they put them on. But if they’re expelled for bad behavior, they must return the symbolic strand. I know nothing makes me feel like a lady quite like my pearl earrings. I wear them everyday, even when I’m just running to the supermarket. It’s amazing how a simple thing like jewelry can transform you into a woman. There are just so many fancy perks to being female! So, I got to know, what makes you feel like a lady? Fill in the blank.

Wearing a killer dress with heels, like a bride’s maid at a wedding makes me feel like a lady.

I’ve gotten more into jewelry too! I used to be such a tomboy, but I’ve learned to rock a low-cut shirt like a lady instead of a coed by busting out my recent, fantastic jewelry finds. I get compliments fairly regularly too, which is fun. My grew-up-in-Pasadena-had-3-debutante-balls coworker loved my new necklace so much that she made a point of telling me how proud she is of me for it ... since I’m such a tomboy most of the time.
Shoes make me feel more like a ‘lady’ too - like when I run to the store after work and I’m in my nice leather clogs or heels instead of chacos, running shoes, or hiking boots.
I live in a college town and am so done with that part of my life that I try to distance myself from that scene, and staying in my work clothes/shoes/jewelry helps me do that. Finding affordable jewelry is kind of hard, but when I find a good place, it’s like heaven now, and then I get to plug those places when people compliment me. Win-win!

Slightly off topic, but can some one compare this to Charm School on VH1 so I know if I want to watch it?
But back to the topic at hand, I don’t really know what makes me feel like a lady. Maybe i should try wearing more jewelry…

elthrilla: It’s much more “real” than Charm School, there isn’t AS MUCH ridiculous bulls**t but there is still some. Personally, I like it alot better.
My high heels and sandals make me feel like a lady. In the winter when I have to wear boots and stuff, I feel completely un-ladylike…

Shaving my legs makes me feel like a lady. I don’t mind it at all.
