The only thing that makes this year’s seemingly endless rain vaguely tolerable is the excuse to buy new shoes. Namely, wellies. No, large plastic shoes aren’t technically the height of style. But when it’s pissing rain and puddles are looking more like pools, we’ll make allowances. Dive—actually, wade—into our roundup of wellies that make us happy. But before you do, here’s how to treat those ladies right once you’ve got them: rub down with soapy water and then dry after use, store them out of the sunlight or heavy heat, and don’t stuff those suckers into a box as they’ll just get dented. OK, let’s get going here.
First up, these are the coolest possible variety of cutesy. [$85, Chooka, Nordstrom]

I love the Burberry ones, since I’m down south my friends are insisting that I should get a pair for the wonderful rain and flooding.

Heads up, folks: Much as I love the Target wellies because they’re cute and cheap, they’re also cheap in quality: I bought a pair last year, and I loved them to pieces… literally. Halfway through the rainy season they had little tears on the sides, thus making them pointless. :-(

I really like the first ones with the tokidoki design. Now if I just lived somewhere rainy enough.

I second the Target comment—I bought a pair last year that were a knockoff of pair # 3 on the slide show (love them!!!) and there first tear appeared within two months!
But they’re cute and cheap, so maybe if you’re willing to keep getting a couple of different pair each season, hey, why not?
