Weird Food News: Blue M&Ms Can Heal Your Spine And More

Blue M&Ms Can Heal Spinal Injuries
  • Everyone always goes for the green M&Ms (horndogs!), but perhaps you should consider reaching for the blue. Turns out, the compound “Brilliant Blue G,” which makes blue M&Ms blue, can be used to treat spinal cord injuries. Injecting just the right amount of this dye appears to make recovery much faster. The downside? The stuff makes your skin bright blue for a little while. How Smurfy. [Telegraph UK]
  • Coca-Cola’s newest drink “Vio” is one part milk and one part seltzer water—and we’re just not sure how that combo could possibly end well. Even more questionable—it comes in flavors like citrus burst, peach mango, tropical colada, and very berry. It has no artificial crap in it but, um, it’s carbonated milk. Gross. [Daily Mail UK]
  • The New York Times is up in arms because a number of the characters in the newest “Harry Potter” flick are shown gulping down butterbeer. They say the scenes are all about underaged drinking, but Warner Bros claims that’s “open to different interpretations.” My interpretation? This is like saying root beer is bad news. [NY Times]

Yay!  Blue M&Ms; are my favorite!

And to the Harry Potter thing, I’ve always thought that Butterbeer was, like you said, the equivalent of our root beer.  It makes me sad/annoyed how people always try to make something out of nothing.

Please ignore the semicolon after M&Ms;.  I have no idea how that little bugger got there.

We need an edit option, Frisky!

beatrice sounds like an annoying little brat.  i hate it when celebs brag about their kids’ obnoxiousness like it is cute.

Have you never had an egg cream? It’s milk, seltzer and chocolate syrup. You can’t be a New Yorker w/o trying it at least once (unless you are vegan). It is a totally crave worthy drink.

Not too sure about the Vio flavors, but the pina colada might be good.

One part milk, one part seltzer, add fox’s u-bet and you have the most delicious drink in NYC; an egg cream. Pity the fools who don’t know its awesomeness.

Carbonated milk? Because of the odd cravings I get late at nightm, I’ve been saying that this needs to happen for years. I cannot wait to try this stuff, even if it does end up being horrible.

When I was little, I remember when the blue M&M was first introduced. And one day I went into my dad’s office with him and there was a huge jar of M&Ms; and I only ate the blue ones. Ever since then, I have been obsessed with the blue ones, though I now eat them all. smile

The kids in Harry Potter look like they’re getting wasted on butterbeer. That’s the difference.

The problem I foresee for VIO is that you can’t bottle an egg cream, it has to be made to order with a specific technique for it to come out well. I just don’t see how they will get around it.

no no no. i think in harry potter it was just hermione getting tipsy off the butterbeer, and its to bad theres no such thing. im such a harry potter geek, they should come out with THAT. carbonated milk, on the other hand, sounds um. interesting.
