Weight Loss Ad Turns The Overweight Into Target Practice

If you’ve been looking to lose a few pounds lately, one Brazilian weight loss company may have just the final motivational push you need: a higher likelihood of being shot to death! Whether these ads are saying that overweight people should be used for target practice or simply pointing out the fact that less surface area means fewer places to potentially be shot is unclear. What is apparent is that this is a highly questionable moment in negative reinforcement. What do you think? Does it strike the fear of a violent death into your heart and inspire you to melt away those love handles? Or does it just kind of make you want to gut punch whoever came up with it? For the record, we’re leaning towards the latter. [Copyranter]

Actually, I think it is implying that the product targets these areas, as in your flab is the target of this item. Like you're a dartboard for weight loss. Not that you have more surface area to be shot in.

To me the implication is that when you are fat, you have a target on you. At least that's how it can feel anyway. And considering the constant chatter about Gabourey Sidibe's weight, I think it's true.

I'm with @tk_2009 and @dustxandxlight. Taking everything literally is a good way to get offended by things that weren't meant to be that offensive.

I just read something about how an overweight woman actually was saved by her fat stopping a bullet from hitting vital organs. And if one is living in Brasil, with all of the corruption and gang violence, maybe a little more meat wouldn't hurt survival chances.

@impoddity: I was just about to use that same reference. You beat me to it! Flab saves you from gun-shot wounds!

@impoddity Fat saves lives. It stops bullets from hitting vital organs. And it prevents your appendix from exploding early. Trust me, I learned that the hard way.But the first thing that came to mind was the handful of stories out there about fat stopping bullets.

The female photo looks like some weird kind of dog-thing, and the male one looks like a frog with a gaping mouth....
