Woman World

Over half of the women in America are livin’ single. It’s an amazing statistic that shows just how far women have come in the past few decades. We’re not waiting around for a white wedding to jump start our lives anymore. After the jump, tell us what you aspire to in the 21st century.

I Aspire To ...

1. Get a promotion.

2. Own a bachelorette pad.

3. Host a dinner party that would make Martha Stewart jealous.

4. Pay off my college loans.

5. Have the foresight to know when someone isn’t right.

6. Get off in under 15 minutes—batteries not included.

7. Be able to put on lipstick without a mirror.

8. Donate money to charity.

9. Travel the world.

10. Keep on dreaming.

I already bought land/vacation property, so I’m aspiring to build on it, which is a much bigger endeavor than just getting the land, yikes!

I’ve already started a solid conversation about negotiating a raise (documentation that my current salary is less than the range for my job should help ...)

I want to master baking bread - I live at 7k’ elevation and so far it has not turned out well.

Be more car-competent.

Get so comfortable in my job that I’m able to really take the stuff I do to a new level of efficacy - got a great new boss coming in so hopefully this will be a given!

Get in better shape (the perpetual goal) and climb harder.

I did one thing recently…bought a new car myself! No help. I’m proud of that.

Some other ideas I’d have:

1. Teach both of my children that they alone dictate where their lives will go; they need to follow their dreams.

2. Learn to let go of the people in my life who offer only negativity…and cherish the ones who inspire me to be better than I am.

3. Learn the difference between loving someone and being IN love with someone…

4. Let go of the insecurities that plagued my 20s, and realize that I am an amazing woman with MANY talents!

5. Sing and dance more.

To raise our daughters to be truly fearless women - in life, love, work, education, style, etc. - who truly understand their value goes beyond their outward appearance.

@vanya: Love it! Excellent!

I aspire to:

1. Get in better shape.
2. FINALLY get my drivers license for the first time ... at 29.
3. Keep my job, even though what my company does is pure luxury and no one NEEDS us, so I’m not sure if/when clients will stop calling.
4. Upgrade my home to something more spacious, unless the recession doesn’t allow me to (see #3).

-Get a dog.
-Become more assertive with my family.
-Surf.
-Not wear jeans 7 days a week.
-Only buy books when I have finished the stack I just purchased.
-Transfer my cell’s phone book to paper so if I loose or break it, I won’t loose all the numbers (again).
-Get in the habit of writing people REAL letters every once in a while.
-Learn to cook.

I am starting graduate school this fall (oh god, oh god, I’ll be poor until I die but I will be so damn smart) and finish my novel.  If I can wrap all of this up in four years, the next fifty will be nothing but gravy. Poor, poor student-loan payin’ gravy.

Outragesdale - good luck with grad school! It will be worth it!

Ooer…so what do I want to achieve?!

1. Get fully qualified as a lawyer (I finish law school in June and have to get a training contract for two years to compete…am scared I won’t get one…)
2. Buy my own place - or at the very least FINALLY move out from my parents’ house!
3. Travel more.
4. If i find one, get a man who actually appreciates me, not one who lets me do all the running (grr)
5. Own several pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes
6. Own a Vivienne Westwood jacket
7. Own a Chanel 2.55 bag.

Yes, yes, the last three are vacuuous, but those are the three I think I’ve probably got more chance of achieving than any of the others (apart from moving out…) xxx

-Be heavily involved in the national implementation of Comprehensive Sexuality Education [though with this presidential administration it may happen before I’m old enough to have a direct involvement]

-be a successful prosecutor (preferably the D.A for wherever I reside) while also holding a degree in Human Sexuality which would allow me to be a prosecutor by day and a sex educator by night, which are my two favorite things in the world. [I teach sex ed now with Planned Parenthood’s Teen health center]

-to breathe without worrying about what happens next. Just relax. I think this one will be the hardest to attain.

I don’t have small aspirations, apart from to dress and look as awesomely as I think I look in my head (come on, victory rolls! You *will* happen without looking like something my cat yakked up) and generally do the living hell out of my fiance.

My aspirations will changes as my situations change. I’m a travelling graduate and I don’t know what will happen around the corner… I dont feel the need to make aspirations like ‘learn to drive’ or ‘grow as a person.’ I believe that when I need to, I’ll step up.
