Want A Baby? Hook Up With An Ugly Guy

Ugly Guys More Fertile

According to an article in the Telegraph today, research suggests that ugly men are more likely than attractive ones to get their mates knocked up. The theory is based on behavior in the animal kingdom where “the most desirable males restrict their ‘sperm load’ with each mating to ensure enough to go around.” Scientists are researching whether the same is true for humans, and if it is, women who want a baby may be wise to avoid the hotties. “Males with the opportunity to mate with a lot of females would be likely to produce less sperm on each occasion than those making fewer sexual conquests.” The researchers’ theory that hot guys have smaller sperm loads is based on the idea they’re the ones with the highest sexual conquests. In my experience and years of gossiping with friends and observing the behavior of people around me, that certainly doesn’t seem to be the case. What do you think? Are hot guys getting laid the most? Wow!  Evolution sure does make a guy’s balls cocky!

When we were having fertility problems, the doctor said we should have sex often because “saving it up” made a man less fertile, not more.

Seems to me that, for humans, all this study shows - assuming you’re not just looking at one night stands to get you pregnant and are actually in a committed relationship - that, um… it pretty much shows nothing. Hor or ugly, it seems it all comes down to how often the man has had sex lately. Or actually, if I remember what I read about the actual study, all that matters is how often he _thinks_ he’s going to have sex _with other women_ in the near future that matters.

All noise! Even if this study was true for animal ‘zooners, it wouldn’t translate to our more monog mating habits – we’d have “uglied” ourselves into extinction long ago.

@_jsw_: that’s what I got out of it, too, if anything.

@retro chic: I dunno. Jon & Kate provide a bit of evidence for their theory….

@_jsw_: that was an IVF egg assault – not unlike the show. Besides, by the looks of things, he’s working on lower sperm loads as we speak.
wink

@JSW.  From personal experience, the anticipation of sex
seems to create more sperm.
And I’ve had the chance to see my sperm under a microscope,
quite plentiful and active, and my wife would call me a hottie.

When we were undergoing fertility treatments….on the days I was artificially inseminated we were also under instructions to have sex two or three times during the course of that day.  (So my husband had to perform 4 times overall.)  His freaking sperm count—already enough to “fertilize a small SOuth American country on his own” according to the doctor—actually WENT UP.

Ugly or hot—the more he’s anticipating sex, the higher his sperm count.  At least in my experience.  So, that would make the theory listed above not plausible.  The ugly guy isn’t going to think he is going to get laid three times in a day; but the hot guy will.

Sperm are very amazing. Men create more sperm when they are separated from their loved one and reunited. Sperm will fight and kill other men’s sperm, form blockers and defense lines and others who head for the eggs. It’s almost like a game of football. Read Sperm Wars if your interested.

I don’t know about getting laid more, but in my experience uglier guys are better in bed. They don’t take sex for granted and that makes them VERY enthusiastic when they get it. The really hot guys are usually boring and selfish. Plus they cheat more.

But if I was trying to get knocked up, I’m not gonna lie - I would go for the most genetically perfect man I could land. I’m all about pretty, smart, healthy, tall, ubermensch children.
