Trailer Park: “Love Happens,” “Cloudy With A Chance…,” “Jennifer’s Body,” “The Informant!”
TGIF ladies! Time to unwind from the hectic work week with a bottle glass of wine and some “me” time. And what better way to do that than to disappear into a movie theater? This week your every fantasy can be realized, whether it involves inventing elaborate machines like in “Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs,” going cannibalistic on hotties in “Jennifer’s Body,” being a super spy like “The Informant!” or just falling in love because, apparently, “Love Happens,” though I have my doubts about that statement.
The Movie: “Jennifer’s Body”
The Trailer: Megan Fox stars as Jennifer, a sexy demon and captain of the flag team whose cannibalistic tendencies start causing the high school male population to dwindle as she seduces them one-by-one before eating them alive. Amanda Seyfried plays Needy, her more straight-laced friend who tries to stop her in a straight-up girl battle. Diablo Cody took a major turn from her sweet first script “Juno,” and about this movie she said, “I thought, What’s scary to me? Zombies? Not that scary. Ghosts? Not that scary. And then I was like, Teenage girls? Scary as hell.”
The Hitch: So. There. I am fascinated with Diablo’s career and the addition of Seyfried and say-anything Fox should be a delicious combination. Plus, I nearly forgot, Adam Brody plays an eye-linered rock star who undoubtedly gets eaten. In this case, I have to say I don’t blame the demon .. I’d be a man eater for that boy, too. Check out Jessica’s review here.
The Movie: “The Informant!”
The Trailer: “The Informant” is based on Kurt Eichenwald’s book of the same name about an executive at Archer Daniels Midland Company who helped the FBI uncover a price-fixing scheme and in the process has illusions of spy grandeur. Matt Damon stars as the unstable but willing agent Mark Whitacre, a role he had to pack on 30 pounds for: ‘‘I started eating like crazy and drinking dark beer. I definitely got doughy. ‘Between meals on set, I’d eat a No. 1 Value Meal at McDonald’s and then Doritos on top of it. It was absolute heaven.’‘
The Hitch: Director Steven Soderbergh said of the book, ‘‘I started laughing incredulously at how this story kept turning. ‘I thought, ‘How do you make this serious?’‘’ It looks like he didn’t try too hard though because the trailer is hilarious.
The Movie: “Love Happens”
The Trailer: Aaron Eckhart stars as a widower and self-help motivational speaker who runs into Jennifer Aniston‘s character, a single florist in her 30s. The two only have a weekend together but they both realize there’s something there. After some inevitable missteps, they manage to accidentally fall in love.
The Hitch: When I saw the first trailer, I was immediately confused. I was like, two people fall in love? What is this actually about? Why is this trailer so vague? They must be leaving out something huge. But according to producer Scott Stuber, they didn’t. ‘‘The trick here is we have a romantic, character-driven movie about real people. It’s not high concept.’’ Huh?
The Movie: “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs”
The Trailer: Based on the popular children’s book, “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” is the story of an inventor-in-training (voiced by Bill Hader) who creates a machine which turns water into food, which is huge since the town had been surviving on sardines. But then the contraption starts making giant spaghetti tornadoes and massive corn cobs which fall from the sky, endangering lives. Also lending their voices are Anna Faris, Neil Patrick Harris, and Andy Samberg.
The Hitch: I am embarrassed to admit that I’ve never read the book, but I have seen writer/first-time directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s other work which includes “How I Met Your Mother” and MTV’s animated “Clone High,” which happens to be my favorite cartoon EVER. And when they found out that Sony owned the rights to the book, they said, “We grabbed them by the lapels and forced them to let us make it.”

I can’t believe you never read Cloudy wit ha chance of Meatballs! It is the best book ever, it was me and my sisty fave growing up and I have to admit that I am super excited to go see the movie this weekend, so I hope that it is good! Otherwise I can wait to see The Informant and Jennifer’s Body on dvd, and I can def. skip the Love whatever, Jennifer Aniston is so drab in all her movies and I can’t look at Aaron Eckhart, his chin distracts me from paying attention to anything else.

That Jennifer’s body poster looks a lot like the True Blood thing.

@Bellingerentjane, I thought so to. I wander if its homage to, or a blatant rip off.

Its nothing like True Blood. She was a succubus and had no relation to being a vamp. But i understand what you mean with the poster, but nothing like it at all.
