Tracy Morgan Was Too Raunchy For Carnegie Hall Crowd

Yeah, you’re not the only one that didn’t find that Tracy Morgan joke funny. In fact, his performance at New York’s Carnegie Hall tanked last Friday because fans were expecting his comedy routine to be more in line with “30 Rock” character Tracy Jordan’s humor. You know, prime-time approved. But, instead, some audience members walked out as Tracy joked about homosexuality being “a choice,” drugs, pornography, and something he calls “politricks,” which, according to Urban Dictionary, are the tricks politicians play, but I think Tracy means something much raunchier. Middle-aged women were reportedly the most appalled when he started mimicking sex acts while on stage. He seemed to have no problem with his routine shocking audience members: “You want the clean Tracy? Turn on the TV.” [NY Daily News]

I was actually at this show—second row center (3 rows directly in front of Spike Lee!) and can attest that his act was filthy and offensive. But it was also hilarious, too! And Tracy got a standing ovation. I wouldn’t say it tanked. And anyone who’s really familiar with his comedy wasn’t surprised by the raunchiness of his act.

tracy is filthy. tracy is funny. if you cant tolerate both, dont go to his show. glad to hear it wendy. sounds like you knew what you were in for.

Tracy Morgan is a raw comedian and always has been. The offended should have done their homework before buying a ticket.

People dont seem to realize that he is the character he plays on 30 ROck just dirtier. If you dont even know that much about a comedian why go to the show and then trash it later?

I saw him in SF two years ago; at that show, he was universally panned. He was clearly drunk and/or high and was too unintelligible to be funny. We did catch the word “p&ssy;” about a billion times though. (I have an extremely high tolerance for dirty jokes and I’m sure I would have thought what he said was funny if I could have understood it.)
If he got a standing ovation, he couldn’t have been too bad. Back at that SF show, you could’ve heard crickets chirp by the end.

I thought everyone knew what Tracy Morgan was about. I see he has an audience even he wasnt familiar with.
