Thoughts From Guys On Our IM: Do They All Have “Types”?

Thinking about Friday’s slideshow of celebrities and their “types”, I got to thinking about the guys on my IM and whether they stuck with the same type of gal, either in relationships or casual hookups. Previous to the man-friend, I sort of went for emotional musician/writer types—and still occasionally get a little fire in my belly for guys like them (sorry honey!)—but discovered that true love comes when you open your mind to someone outside your usual desires (and other such Hallmark sentiments). Additionally, I was curious what types of women the average guy would cheat with—someone similar to his girlfriend, or her complete opposite in personality and looks? Their responses, after the jump…

I certainly have been accused of having an unrealistic type.
For me, hair color, skin color, short, tall, none of that matters. I just go for the thing to athletic type.
Many of my female friends will scold me for that. Then again, they’re the same women who won’t date short guys.

@axe: I think there’s a diff between types and dealbreakers. I’m not proud, but I’ve got to say both short and/or overweight are dealbreakers for me.

God I love these conversations.
I would say there’s a type that makes me go, “Hey there!” but others can certainly woo me over time.

I love these conversations, they really help demystify men in certain ways. Often I think we women put a lot of crap onto guys - “they don’t like to commit”, “they only want sex”, “they are only attracted to this or that type”, etc. - and it is good to know that we aren’t that different from each other. Do any male-oriented sites employ the same gimmick to get insights in the mind of women?

if my boyfriend has a type, then he its nothing but any girl who will hook up with him. he just got lucky that i was being skanky at the right moment
now we’ve been together for two years!
