They Call Me The Crazy Cat Lady
I admit it: I’m about four whiskers shy of being a full-on crazy cat lady. I have two cats of my own and would happily adopt more if my poor husband didn’t have mild allergies. I even promised in my wedding vows that I’d never bring home a third kitten, but that doesn’t stop me from cooing at cats I see in apartment windows, on the TV, and in pet carriers on the subway, presumably on their way to the vet. My mother gets me a kitten calendar every Christmas and each month I look forward to flipping the page to a new picture of adorable kitties sleeping in men’s dress shoes or napping in a mini hammock. All this is to say that when I saw this heated cat blanket, a “luxurious silky plush cover” that heats to 102°F, I knew exactly what I was getting my Miles and Simone for Christmas this year! OK, fine, so maybe I’m only one whisker shy of full-on crazy cat lady. [$79.99, Doctors Foster and Smith] [via Outblush]

I’m at two cats and holding, too, but I would LOVE to have more. The more cats you have, the better chance you have of one sitting on your lap when you’re in the mood to be purred at! And I’m thinking about a heated blanket for my cat who has arthritis - that’s not crazy, is it?

You do realize, of course, that if you get these blankets, they will shun your chilly 98.6º lap for the warm shelter of the blanket’s 102º goodness. Unless you have a fever. If you’re really sick, they might come back to you.

Yeah, because I could think of about 10,000 other things to spend $80 on than a heated cat blanket. You could probably get a regular electric blanket at Target or something for cheaper. The cat doesn’t care anyways, a blanket is a blanket to them. Of course I really am not into pets, never had one and don’t want one, so I don’t get the impulse to buy things for them, I’m sure they are perfectly content just having food on a regular basis and somewhere to sleep, that they really don’t care about expensive accessories.

I’m not a hoarder, but I do care for my cat. Since she’s well behaved, I took her with me on a few month vacation to eastern Europe back in 2007. Most people were surprised to see me toting my cat around, but also thought it was cool.

I have three cats, my last name is Morris, I’m a Leo, and my screen name is cattgirl813. I think my crazy cat lady cred is firmly established. But I can’t stand things with cats on them - I’ve received cat bags, cat calendars, cat jewelry, yada, yada, yada and they go in a junk drawer - and don’t go out of my way to overly pamper my cats. They eat cat food out of a bag, they have a scratching post, and their favorite toys are plastic tops of soda bottles. I can’t even imagine a Christmas present for a cat, much less a blanket for a cat that costs as much as one of my duvet covers. I’m a crazy cat lady, not an insane one.

O, Wendy, the things “we” must do for our sponsors! At least you stop short of fashioning table cloths, bathing suits and scarves with gold brooches for yourself. Staunch, *you* are. Hmm. Come to think of it – you’re not in the “What We’re Wearing Today” feature…

I didn’t know I was allergic to the little darlings ‘til I had to give one away when I moved many years ago (the Management wouldn’t allow dogs). I was blaming it on hayfever and pollens, then was miraculously cured when she was gone. I’ve always been a dog person anyway. Sorry, Gracie La Lune. [xoxo “lillers” woof!]

I bought my cats something similar, you just put it in the microwave for a minute then put it under the cat bed (way cheaper!). They love it. It’s so cute to see them fighting over it. I am a full blown crazy pet owner (3 cats, 2 dogs, 2 birds, 1 lizard) and my babies are PAMPERED. Floor to ceiling cat condo, window perches, and toys for days! But I say no to dressing up my pets, that’s just strange!

My older sister had 5 cats before she divorced her husband - she only got to take one with her when she moved out. Her cats had their own little cardboard box house (the box the real cat house came in), and they were ever so pleased with her when she’d toss their blanket in the dryer to warm it up. They’d fight for a spot on the blanket while she and her husband put away their dryer-fresh laundry.

we got a Siberian which are relatively hypoallergenic. not 100% but they supposedly only produce ~20% of the allergen protein compared to other cats. they’re pricey (our breeder gets $900 for a kitten) but worth every penny! intelligent, affectionate, loyal, athletic & beautiful!
