The Tila Tequila And Shawne Merriman Plot Thickens

The Tila Tequila/Shawne Merriman incident of early Sunday morning is turning into a classic case of he-said, she-said. She says that she was at NFL player Merriman’s house at 3:45 a.m., when he choked her, knocked her over, and tried to hold her down. She called the police and, when they arrived, she signed a citizen’s arrest form. Merriman was taken into custody and released on bail seven hours later. [People]
But now Merriman is saying that’s not the whole story.
He says two were at a party with about 14 others, and that Tila was “extremely inebriated.” He claims he was trying to keep her from driving home. “We would all do our best to help a friend if we considered their actions to be detrimental to their personal safety,” he said. “At the time, I was concerned about her welfare given the intoxicated state she appeared to be in and I encouraged her to stay until safe transportation could be provided.” If that’s the case, keeping her from driving was a very good thought. But, um, whatever happened to taking someone’s keys? That should never, ever, ever involve choking and restraining. Especially when the guy in question is 6’4 and 272 pounds and the woman in question is 4’11 and way less than 100. [NY Daily News]
Ever since the incident, Tila has been unusually quiet on her Twitter feed, though she did write up a quick response to the assertion that she was drunk. “I am allergic to alcohol. It has been publicly known for years. That is how I got the name Tila ‘Tequila’ cuz the irony. I can’t drink.” That would explain why she always seemed reasonably in control of her actions on “A Shot At Love,” while the men and women who were courting her (wait, can we really call it that?) seemed blitzed out of their minds.
Who knows if we’ll ever know exactly what happened here. But here’s hoping this is the last incident like this for a very long time.

He claims that witnesses will back him up, and the examination of her showed no injuries.
I obviously have no idea what went on, and I usually give the woman the benefit of the doubt over the man, but in this case, I think he went too far but not nearly as far as she claims.

I think what Shawne meant when he said ‘intoxicated’ was not alcohol but some other drug. She says she wasn’t drinking which is true, HOWEVER how do we know she wasn’t doing something else. You can’t be in the porn business without being involved with something.

I think we should probably hold off on the assumptions on this one. She may be allergic to alcohol but it doesn’t seem to stop her from drinking it, he claims to have eye witnesses to the incident an paramedics/police report that she was unharmed (only drunk) But then again he is a big scary man and therefore must be a woman beater.

@msPriss: I may not be in the porn industry, but that doesn’t mean I can’t feel like something you’ve said about people who ARE in that industry is inappropriate. It’s the same as being white (which I am) and finding a racist joke inappropriate (which I do). I’m not sure which big words you meant, since I think most people who’ve made it out of elementary school would know them, but I guess that, to someone who hasn’t, they’d be considered “big”.
And - because of my clear and obvious mental incapacity (ooh - I hope that’s not too big of a word) - I’m unclear as to why “using big words” would make me “feel inferior to other people” because I think I’m “better than everyone else.” If I already thought I was better, wouldn’t the use of such vocabulary reinforce my feelings of superiority, not make me feel inferior? And as far as serving your country is concerned: (1) there are many many admirable members of the military, but, let’s face it, the low admissions standards clearly don’t mean the every member falls into that category; (2) those who keep flaunting the fact that they served are rarely the admirable ones, who tend not to throw it out there every time they’re otherwise losing an argument; and (3) even an Army grunt would know the words I’ve used, so when you say you “served your country” I can only suppose you’re referring to your current career.

If she wasn’t drunk, even though there seems to be evidence she was, I do agree with one point that msPriss made and that was the fact she didn’t need to be only under the influence of alcohol, who knows what other substances she could be on.
