The Perfect Red Lipstick Spotted At Christian Cota!
The hunt for the ultimate red lipstick can be a lifelong endeavor. And if you ask my dear friend and beauty expert Courtney Dunlop, red lipstick is the new smoky eye. Some are too tomato-y, some too blue, orange or worse, pink. But once you’ve found the perfect shade of red that looks great with your skin tone, just like scoring the perfect LBD, you’ve got a go-to glamour maker that you can bust out on days where you can’t be bothered to put any effort into looking put-together. That’s why I was so excited to spot such a fetching shade of brilliant red on the pretty lips of the models at the Christian Cota presentation yesterday. Global Makeup Artist for Maybelline New York, Charlotte Willer spends a lot of time mixing up colors to use for editorial purposes, but yesterday she didn’t have to. All of the girls were treated to a heapin’ helping of Color Sensational Lipcolor in Very Cherry, a color which looks good on all skin types (and the girls there ranged from lily white to deepest ebony black) and they all looked smashing. Also, because of the high pigment color payoff and creamy texture, no liner was required. Um yeah and it also costs under $10.
Also spotted at Christian Cota: celebs Rose Byrne and Amerie; ‘50s-inspired cocktail dresses made edgy with chain jewelry; the fattest, smallest chihuahua we’ve ever seen; and seriously even-more-gorgeous-in-person, new Maybelline New York spokesmodel, 18-year-old Emily Didonato (whom we snapped, above). Oh, also, the sickest shoes ever, after the jump!

Typewriter - I agree, she is absolutely stunning. I like the lipcolor, too, I might have to pick that up.

I don’t even wear makeup, and I’m going to buy this lipstick to try it out. Great lip color, great shoes, and the model looks very naturally pretty. Great article, Erin!

I usually just go with a gloss to keep my lips soft, I’m way too chicken-sh!t to try a color. I DO NOT have the chucks to brave going out of the house wearing red lipstick. Funny thing is, I actually have lipstick on in the picture to the left. I’m a mess, I need a makeover lol. I love the lips in the picture above though, gorgeous.

I’ve been looking for MONTHS for a red that doesn’t turn magenta on me. I’m going to get this ASAP and hope against hope. Stupid redheaded paleness…

Nice… and ninja, I am a pale redhead too, with green eyes. The sephora lady just set me up with Givinchy lipliner called #5, and Givinchy lipgloss in “Crystal.” The lipliner looks more like a lipstain, I use it all over my lips, and the lipgloss glams it up a bit. Its pretty damn sexy, and I get lots of compliments.
And Bean’s girl, you would look amazing in red lipstick. Just leave the rest of your face really minimal, no eyeliner or anything, just foundation

I bought the Very Cherry lip color. Definitely too pink on me. (Very pale skin/very dark hair) Damn! Will I ever find the right red???
