The Most Popular Kids At Hollywood High!

Last week, 15-year-old Dakota Fanning was crowned the Homecoming Princess of Crespi Carmelite High School after cheering at the game with the other Viking cheerleaders. This is weird for a couple of reasons: because she goes to an actual high school and because she is still only 15. Also, isn’t she too busy being a badass Volturi to be a cheerleader? And aren’t teenagers supposed to resent her for her success? Plus, aren’t they generally called “Homecoming Queens”?
Most celebrities at least claim they were outcasts in high school. Having been a drama geek, I can confirm that this is likely true. But I guess not every path to stardom is paved with struggle. Here are some celebrities who were beloved from day one. [Just Jared]
- Halle Berry has kinda always been considered one of the most beautiful women in America, even though she was only a runner-up in the Miss USA and Miss World pageants. (Guffaw). Of course, it all started in high school, where she was a member of the Honor Society, editor of her school newspaper, class president, a cheerleader, and prom queen. I’m exhausted just imagining her high school popularity. It sounds really taxing.
- Unsurprisingly, Brad Pitt was super well-liked in high school. He played sports, participated in debate, student government, and school musicals. He dated lots and was voted best-dressed senior. - Sandra Bullock, who tends to play the awkward underdog in movies, was the opposite at Washington Lee High School in Arlington, VA. Bullock was a cheerleader, above-average student, and was voted “Most Likely to Brighten Your Day” upon her graduation in 1982. This seems totally appropriate for Bullock, but mostly because I still think of her as she was in “Hope Floats,” as a Southern debutante beauty queen. [Hollywood Auditions]
- Willie Nelson might be associated with stoners and bandanas these days, but back in high school he was working up to a career in pro football. Until he totally biffed a tryout cause he’d been awake all night playing music and decided to lose the helmet and stick to his guitar. Thank goodness, because “Starlight” is one of the best songs ever. [Parade]
- Even though she’s foiling her career now, Paula Abdul was once homecoming queen, head cheerleader, and voted most likely to succeed at Van Nuys High School. After those illustrious titles, she became a Lakers girl, which if I remember correctly, used to be a big deal. [About.com]
- In a much more shocking turn, Rosie O’Donnell was, like, the most popular celebrity to ever walk the hallowed halls of high school—winning homecoming queen, prom queen, senior class president, and class clown at Commack High School. I totally would have worshiped a teenaged Rosie in high school. No wonder Angelina Jolie macked on her. [Handbag]

why its not weird: her being 15 and being homecoming princess sounds about right. At some schools Homecoming Queen and King is just for seniors, however lower levels in homecoming court are opened up to other classes.
At my old highschool the whole homecoming court was just for seniors, but we had winterball court where there was a Snow Princess which would always be a sophomore or freshman.

Yeah at my school we had a court for every grade level. Freshman Prince, Princess and court. Sophomore Prince, Princess and court. Only senior year had the King and Queen but every grade had at least a Prince and Princess.

At the high school I attended, the Queen and Kind were seniors, and the other classes were princes and princesses. It is weird that she does go to a regular school, though. I would think she would be doing some type of home school.

I love Dakota Fanning. She’s always seemed like a genuine person, despite the fact that she’s crazy talented. This little blurb just proves the point.

At my high school, for our homecoming court we had the following rankings:
-Seniors: King and queen
-Juniors: Prince and princess
-Sophomores: Duke and dutchess
-Freshmen: Lord and lady
Therefore, I don’t see what’s so weird about it.

Homecoming princes and princesses are freshman-juniors. Kings and Queens are the seniors.

The part I find weird is to see her without perfectly done Hollywood makeup.
She truly looks like an age appropriate teenager here as opposed to how old they make her look in the movies.
Also can you imagine going to a normal high school when you’re doing a movie with Robert Pattinson??? She must be completely bombarded by her female classmates.

Never realized how weird my HS was… the Queen was always a senior, but then we had four “maids” (Freshman Maid, Sophomore Maid, Junior Maid, Senior Maid). Then we had Football Sweetheart, a Basketball Sweetheart, and a Band Sweetheart.
Crazy small towns… we can’t get anything right!

hmmmm…something tells me that gal is experiencing some serious karmic payback. she must have been a saint in a prior life or something. she’s ungodly beautiful, fiercely talented, and life just seems to part ways for her. good for her…and especially good for her classmates for not being bitter and resentful. go dakota! (my daughter idolizes you btw).
