Move Over Stilettos: The Kitten Heel Is Walking All Over You
We’ve seen this one coming for a long time, and, between Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni Sarkozy, it’s been on the fashion radar a lot lately. Now, the not-new-but-new-now heel height has been spotted on Italian Vogue editor Giovanna Battaglia (uh, such a huge style crush on her!), above, and loads of runways for spring 2010—Marni, Missoni, Louis Vuitton. So, what are your thoughts? Are you a total four-inch heels or flats girl? Or do you really love the mid-height heels? I think to make a kitten heel feel non-corporate, you need a really wild pair—and a non-business-y getup. [Refinery29]

I adore kitten heels - I’m 6’ tall and most of my buddies are in the 5’3” - 5’6” range…I can (and do) rock some high heels but there are times where I don’t feel the need to tower over everyone in the room.

Kitten heels have always seemed to short to be worth it. If they are only half an inch, why not just wear flats and be totally comfortable? If what you really want is that high-heel leg look, then you’ll need something taller anyway.

I don’t like kitten heels. At all. I think they’re almost universally ugly and seem kind of pointless as far as high heels go (no pun intended). Like Raugiel said, they don’t really do anything for your legs and they’re not as comfortable as flats. I prefer something in the 2 1/2-3’’ range for regular wear.

Im the same…. there’s no point to them, and I think they make you look like you have clown feet. I’m an all-or-nothing kind of girl.

For me, they’re up there with skinny jeans, gauging, and Snuggies.

Nein. While that heel height is fine, the fact that it ends on a fine point is bizarre. I’m also a tall girl and I stick to flats.

I’m not loving the gladiatrix with orthopedic socks look.

I like kitten heels, sometimes they are super cut! but they’re a bitch to walk on. I can run on 4 inch heels but an afternoon in kitten heels and I’m ready for the ortho-socks and crocs look! Last time I wore kitten heels a had a freakin’ charlie horse for 3 days. Those things are more dangerous than 70s platform shoes…

Gross, I hate kitten heels. I’m 5’9” and will rock 4 inch heels happily. These things are awkward to walk in, and do nothing to elongate the legs. Those socks are pretty horrific too. Glad I’m not the only one who thinks these shoes are useless.

I’m 5 foot 2.5 inches so I wear 4 inche heals almost every day. Kitten heels are SO 4 years ago too!

I hate the way the kitten heel looks. I don’t like it on short or tall women. They look like the heel was broken off so you just filed them off to match.

I’d rather wear kitten heels than 4-inchers any day. I’m on the shorter end of the scale, so wearing super-high heels not only makes me feel like I’m playing dress-up, but feel like I’ll tip over at any moment. Then again, I’m also the type who prefers flats to heels on most days anyway, so it’s not like kitten heels are that much of a stretch.
