The Halloween Inspiration Board: Sherlock Holmes
Halloween is the perfect time for a little gender-bending. And Sherlock Holmes is one of the best fictional detectives making a resurgence this year with a new movie, so why not combine the two for your costume? All you need are a few classic menswear pieces that can be pilfered from your dad’s closet, thrifted, or purchased (details after the jump).

I’ve not heard of this film. What’s this about homosexuality? Holmes and Watson portrayed as lovers? That would be a stupidly trendy and inaccurate thing to do.
Oh, and Downey’s too short to play Holmes convincingly. Need someone who’s at least 6’4”.

Swoon! Thanks for putting up his hottness RDJ, although I think I’d rather go as Irene Adler in the corset, it goes better with the sexy fill-in-the blank costume required/expected for gals

It’s not correct for there to be Holmes and Adler as a couple either, as they are in the film, but noone complains about that… and they aren’t even being made gay to start with, wtf?
Anyway, this is such a cool costume. i’d love to go as Holmes sometime!
