The Future Is Now: DIY Jeans That Actually Look Good
Your search for the perfect pair of jeans is over! Want to know who makes ‘em? You! indiDenim, a “virtual denim” brand, gives you the power to design your own pair. We aren’t talking about picking dark blue over light; we’re talking details from start to finish. The “design” process is pretty intense and starts with you selecting your ideal fabric (lightweight or thick), rise (high, mid, or low waist), leg, and hem, before delving into other details like belt-loop and stitching.
They added a distressing option to the design process this week. Shoppers can pick among 10 different ways to beat the crap out of their denim. If, for some reason, you’re not feeling your own handy work, not to worry: indiDenim has a Perfect Fit Promise (if they don’t wear as well as you’d hoped, they’ll re-tailor the jeans for you), they offer a generous return policy, and if all else fails you can get a full refund. Each pair starts around $145, depending on what bells and whistles you add to your custom jeans. Log on and start designing at indiDenim. [indiDenim]

There have been similar sites like this that have offered to make custom jeans with various options over the years. I tried out a couple of sites and got some custom jeans, but I much prefer to buy a thick, quality pair of denim off the racks in a store. I’m not going to stay the same measurements forever, and I find it easier to just buy a numbered size, which has room to shrink and also expand a bit.

I have to admit, this would be amazing, because it is so extremely hard to find jeans that fit due to my small hips, bigger then usual tush (for my size), and my short legs. However, i just cant justify paying this much for a pair because my taste seems to change and i end up not liking the jeans couple months later. (and im constantly doing things to get them dirty and stained; outdoors, working etc) But, awesome idea none the less. It would be even cooler if there were stores around to go to so you wouldnt have to simply rely on them hoping they will look good.

@CaleeKay: There is a store in NY that does the custom denim jeans, but I forget the name of it. And I think that they also sell off the rack jeans, but I can’t remember. It’s been awhile.

ok… I just ordered a pair and was only charged $15… Seriously! Anyone else ordered from them, is this just a fluke? (Just wondering if they’re going to come back and try and charge me more later…?) Thanks in advance!
