The Frisky Gift Guide: For The Man Who Provided Half Of Your DNA

Dads are hard to buy presents for, mostly because they either have everything they want or have the ability to buy anything they want. That’s why you need to find something that he didn’t even know he wanted.

Mmm, bacon. What’s not to like about one package of artisan bacon delivered every single month for the next year? We don’t advise giving this if your dad is watching his weight and/or cholesterol levels.
Bacon Of The Month Club, $150, GratefulPalate.com

Seafood fanatics will appreciate the Clam Ram, which is so good at cracking open shells without doing harm to itself that it comes with a lifetime warranty.
Clam Ram, $18, KioskKiosk.com

Is your dad always traveling on business? Maybe he carries his computer in an embarrassing black leather case? Well, he won’t be accused of carrying a “murse” with this manly tote because it’s from Filson, makers of outdoor clothing for hunting, fishing, and other masculine pursuits. If you want to spend a little more, it also comes in plaid wool.
Filson Rugged Twill Tote Bag, $99.50, Filson.com

If your father took hours upon hours of photos at your dance recitals and soccer games, he’ll put this little video camera to good use. Using it’s as easy as pie, and the footage it yields has a slightly jerky, nostalgic look.
Flip Video Mino Series Camcorder, $159, Amazon.com

I think shaving is annoying, and I don’t even have to do it every day. Your father’s face might enjoy a break from Gillette, and these Proraso products are made in Italy and have nice packaging.
Proraso Shaving Cream Tube, $11, Classic-Grooming.com; Proraso Pre- and Post-Shave Cream, $13, Classic-Grooming.com

Filson is a great choice, but I’d suggest their brief instead. Even more versatile, and it won’t make pops look like he’s taking his family to the beach.

@ theothergyllenhaal: True that. Readers, if you have more than $100 to spend on a bag for Dad, here ya go: http://www.filson.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2092402&cp=2065674.2065687.2065706&parentPage=family, or http://www.filson.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2092403&cp=2065674..2065687.2065706&parentPage=family
