The 5 Biggest Conspiracy Theorists In Hollywood

Charlie Sheen, 9/11 Truther

Over the past eight years, the “9/11 truth” movement has gained a lot of followers. They’re the folks who say that 9/11 doesn’t compute and suspect that serious foul play, possibly on the part of our government, went down. I encountered a truther on the subway today who kept saying, “Wake up, America. 9/11 was a set-up.” But, still, I was a bit surprised to hear that Charlie Sheen is a card-carrying truther, too. He recently wrote a piece for PrisonPlanet.com  that’s in the form of a conversation with Barack Obama. Here’s what he had to say:

“[There’s a] bottomless warren of unanswered questions surrounding that day and its aftermath…9/11 has been the pretext for the systematic dismantling of our Constitution and Bill of Rights…I implore you based on the evidence you now possess, to use your Executive Power. Prove to us all, Sir, that you do, in fact, care. Create a truly comprehensive and open Congressional investigation of 9/11 and its aftermath.” [Popeater]

But Charlie isn’t the only celebrity conspiracy theorist on the block. Here’s a look at four more. I’ll withhold judgment and let you decide whether you think they’re on to something or totally off their rockers.

  • Marion Cotillard, of “La Vie en Rose” and “Public Enemies,” believes that the 1969 moonwalk was staged. “Did a man really walk on the moon? I saw plenty of documentaries on it, and I really wondered,” she said. “And in any case I don’t believe all they tell me, that’s for sure.” [LA Times]
  • On a 2007 episode of “Real Time” with Bill Maher, Mos Def famously called Osama bin Laden a “boogeyman.” “Highly educated people in all areas of science have spoken on the fishiness around that whole 9/11 theory,” he said. “It’s like the magic bullet and all that.” [Jones Report]
  • In 2008, Alicia Keys told Blender that she though Tupac and Biggie Smalls were assassinated. She said that the whole East Coast/West Coast beef was played up “by the government and the media to stop another great black leader from existing.” [E! Online]
  • Spike Lee has said he thinks the flooding of New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina may not have been a accident. “I wouldn’t put anything past the U.S. government when it comes to people of color,” he said. “There is too much history.” [LA Times]

well if alicia keys and spike lee are correct (which i sincerely doubt) at least the election of Obama proves that we have come a long way in a whopping 4 years since katrina…

Goes to show: fame doesn’t equal intelligence.

Marion Cotillard needs to get hip to the Mythbusters.  They already took on the whole “the moon walk was staged!” thing.  Although I wouldn’t put it past some conspiracy theorists to claim that the Mythbusters were paid off.

@Chebs: Of course they were paid off! Not that they needed to be - their fathers were the MythCreators and actually staged the landings. How do you think Adam and Jamie met? Jamie was a young kid, enjoying himself playing on the fake lunar landscape, when he met young Adam, just a toddler at the time. As fun as it was throwing fake moon dirt at each other and making fake moon dirt castles, they grew up with the secret shame of knowing what their fathers had done. And so, to appease their own guilt, they started MythBusters. They just couldn’t bring themselves to out their own parents, though, and so they “proved” that we landed on the moon.

You don’t need to believe me. It’s all on Wikipedia.

I hate people like this :( Ever since my (ex) best friend’s husband started planting crazy ideas in her head, I haven’t been able to visit them without hearing (not listening to) long rants about how 9/11 was staged, Obama isn’t a natural born citizen, how the US is engaged in an active and ongoing war with Russia and the Illuminati are conspiring for a New World Order, etc etc. I tried for the longest time to just ignore them and talk about other things, but once she told me that AIDS was started by the government to kill gays and blacks, I stopped talking to her. She’s too far gone now.

You know, the sheer idiocy of the statements from the celebrities above just amazes me.

But I guess there is a reason why they didn’t go to Harvard.

Marion Cotillard is one of many who think that about the moonwalk. For a quick and easy reason to suggest that we wanted to beat Russia to it, which could have been possible.. if mythbusters didnt bust it :]  but who knows, maybe they did get paid off! ;]
Same with Alicia Keys stance on Tupac and Biggie, however why did it have to be the government who assasinated him and not someone from the KKK? /shrug, who knoes.
Anyway, one thing i do have a little conspiracy theory is 9/11. Not to the extent as some people, but i do think there are some fishy things about it that need to be resolved.

Some people get crazy intense though, especially when they still believe things that have been disproved (*cough*obama*)

Marion Cotillard is also a truther. Let’s not forget Oliver Stone, though. JFK does raise interesting questions that were never properly answered, but a lot of it is crazy. You can probably throw in any of the scientologists like Tom Cruise, since they tend to believe weird things as part of their religion (Brooke Shields and post-partum depression, etc.)

Charlie Sheen might not have been so crazy…In the hours following the attack of the world trade centers, while the entire airspace over the US was strictly closed, the only ones Bush allowed to fly out of the country were members of the Bin Laden family.

this is a youtube of the cnn story:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vW3MiQVc08

if bin laden wasnt involved…and sadaam wasn’t involved….then why are we in iraq and afganistan?

call me a conspiracy theorist if you want.

^ Yes, of course the U.S. bombed their own damn buildings. Anything to start a war.

Oh, and they purposefully designed New Orleans levees too weak, most certainly to drown all them ‘colored folk’.

Gotta love America.

@achanceatheaven, in that cnn video, representatives of the white house say that after careful investigation, it became obvious that Osama Bin Laden was not involved in the 9/11 attack, and that’s why they allowed members of his family out of the country. So we invaded Iraq, because it wasn’t Bin Laden. Then it was discovered it was not Saddam either, we invade Afghanistan to cover our asses.

My entire point is that by calling the president to “Create a truly comprehensive and open Congressional investigation of 9/11 and its aftermath” does not make Charlie Sheen a conspiracy theorist. It means that he is an American who wants answers to a lot of questions the Bush Administration has left unclear.

I also would like to hear answers to those questions. Twice the amount of people have died because of 9/11 than the ones in the planes, in the pentagon, or in the towers. So far almost 6,000 US troops have been killed by two wars which were both blamed on the events of 9/11.

With no real end or plan in sight, a huge strain on our armed forces, and the emotional turmoil of the family members of those serving, why aren’t MORE Americans demanding answers to the cause of these two invasions? Right now, my only two siblings are on their second and third tour of duty, and even THEY want answers as to why they are there.
