Is The End Of The Hairy Man Nigh?

Hairy Men Shaving It All Off

During the ascent of the now pervasive male hipster style, we’ve fretted over mustaches gone wild, and hemmed and hawed over Galifianakis-ish hirsuteness. But men who remove all that hair are coming out of the closet, with a little help from grooming marketers, says The New York Times. Will the increasing popularity of manscaping (Diddy and Jay-Z are already converts) foretell the doom of dude body hair as we know it?!

Leading up to the summer months, the shaving company Gillette debuted YouTube videos that teach men how to shave their backs, chests, pits and even their groin areas. Braun also sells a precision trimmer with a Gillette blade. And Nivea has posted “shaving tutorial” videos that teach men how to shave below their necklines with Active3 shower gel. (Just show me a woman who doesn’t think the one teaching men how to shave the hair on their breasts is painful to watch!)

In that case, you’d best hop, skip and jump over to our Nerd Girl Porn slideshow of hairy-chested hotties, before they all go extinct. But first, what’s your take? Do you like to run your fingers through a maze of man fur or do you prefer a smooth dude?[The New York Times]

Trimming is appreciated. A little happy trail and chest fuzz is manly and sexy. But wild bush and the “sweater vest” is no good. All things in moderation.

Agree with DancerNinja, although I might change my mind should I find another one of my bf’s hairs in my eye.  It was quite uncomfortable, and a bit bothersome to get out.

My honey is a veritable bear and must be trimmed top-to-toe on a weekly basis. And he is still hairy after all of that. We are both excited for any new and improved “manscaping” tools. (And yes, I am the one that shaves his back with the electric trimmer.)

I need a man with chest hair, it’s the difference between man and boy. The smooth look gives me the willies. I understand that some men don’t naturally have a lot of it, but please, for the love of god, don’t shave or wax the body hair.

I’m damned if I do, damned if I don’t. Me personally I have an Austin Powers chest. Not quite as crazy but still pretty thick. After the first time I shaved my chest I felt the pain you ladies endure shaving your legs. Unfortunately for me my hair grows as a rediculous pace. I can shave and have it all grow back within a month. Funny thing is I have more chest hair than all 5 of my buddies combined. Thank god no back hair though.

I’m with you, sweetfrancaise.. nothing like running my hands over some nice chest hair.
I do appreciate trimming down below, but the total absence of hair- THAT is what gives me the willies… um, no pun intended.  haha
I dated a guy who Nair’d down there.  OMG the pain he must have experienced (I tried to do my bikini line once and had chemical burns for a week).  He did say that it was uncomfortable, but at the same time, he preferred being hairless there.  I don’t get that.  And I’d worry about loss of sensation over time…

Well, I know my boy used to shave his chest back in the day because his then girlfriend made him, but I tell him now that he just doesn’t have the body to do go bare chested. Maybe if he had some serious pecs and a 6 pack, but he’s got a small case of moobies and therefore have to put up with him trying to rub his chest hair in my face requesting me to “run your fingers through it” in a creepy voice cuz he knows I think its kinda weird…I think of it like chest pubes, and who wants to touch pubes all over the place? Thankfully tho he does keep his lower bits trimmed and tidy for the most part, when he wants some haha

I’m with sweetfrancaise and BluenBlonde! I love me some chest hair. My BF does trim “below the belt” which is fine with me because it makes BJs more comfortable! But I appreciate that he trims, and doesn’t shave completely. I had an ex who didn’t have a lot of body hair to begin with, and then once to “surprise me” he got himself totally hairless around his junk. My lady boner wilted upon discovering this. It still creeps me out to think of that.

BF has talked a couple times about trimming his chest and arm hair, but I think I’ve been successful so far in keeping him from doing it. I know he did it before he dated me, but I definitely don’t want him too!! I love running my fingers through his chest hair. He’s a MAN.

Maybe I would appreciate it if the guy was like a TOTAL BEAR, but my BF is pretty doggone hairy and I still love it just how it is. Now, back hair is another story. Good thing BF doesn’t have that - if he did, we’d have problems.

also…I don’t know about the other hair-loving ladies, but in the slideshow of hairy chests, most of those aren’t really hairy enough for me. I wouldn’t *not* bang one of those because of that, but I like ‘em a bit burlier wink

I remember when I was 15 or 16, I went swimming with my then-boyfriend for the first time. I guess we hadn’t fooled around much yet at that point, because when he took his shirt off to reveal a mostly-hairly chest - but with hairs JUST AROUND THE NIPPLES - I was shocked and almost embarrassed to be with him. Is that growth pattern normal?? it still weirds me out to think about it!

OK, I’ll stop talking about hair now…

My preference on a man is 100% natural (unless it makes him uncomfortable for some reason).  I’m not really turned on by manscaping…it distracts me.  I like the woman-smooth, man-hairy combo.

I like the five o’clock shadow, luv it actually. I can do some chest hair in moderation of course. Leg hair doesn’t really bother me.  What really grinds my gears is pubic hair…OMG I cannot perform if I see hair down there, at least trim it.  I prefer no hair at all.  I hate having to stop to pull a hair out of my mouth.  I’m totally shaved so he should be too.  I don’t care how he gets it done as long as it’s bare.  I go thru a lot keeping that area hair free and think they should too.  As a matter of fact that’s one of the first questions I ask.  Their age being the first….LOL

My boyfriend shaves his chest completely (and he got it waxed once so he could understand some of the female pain) and he trims down there. When he did some modeling in high school, they wanted him to shave his chest, eventually he just continued to do it. But he is definitely still manly—he has a six pack. And he still has hair on his legs and arms. I just can’t stand a man with a hairy chest.

Well the idea is to look pretty. When a man shaves his arms, chest and all other hair off the idea is to emasculate him and make him more boyish which is in fact the style. Thin, kinda short messed up hair and no body hair. Like a little boy. Same thing goes downstairs, especially his balls.

Myself, I don’t care what women think. I wear a very short beard, never shave my chest especially my happy trail. I’ve always trimmed downstairs as it always made sense to me.

Todays modern men don’t really know how to be men. I won’t get into the many specifics but nor do they know how to do anything practical that men should know how to do. Of course I can say it’s not their fault as more and more young boys don’t have a father. 40% of women give birth out of wedlock and marriage is on a 45% angle decline to begin with. Even in divorce 90% of men are made childless and loose custody of their children. We used to think the boys in school without dad’s were gay but as I got older I realized it was because they didn’t have a dad.
