A MacGyver Ring That Could Put Out An Eye
The TAD Gear Titanium Rescue Ring was designed with one thing in mind—helping out its wearer if, in the case of an evacuation, a window or windshield needs to be broken. The wearable weapon consists of two parts: a ring and a spike. If the occasion arises, one inserts the spike into the ring’s hole, and, presto, one has a spiked knuckle that could theoretically, at least, break a girl out of a dangerous situation. But, looking at the ring, it appears that it could double as a self-defense device. Heading down a dark street late at night without your Mace? Perhaps this warrior ring would come in handy should anyone try to put a hand on you. [NOTCOT]

But where do you keep the spike until you need to insert it?

Actually, it looks like the spike goes on a keychain loop, so you probably could take it on a plane. I mean, it’s not like it’s a bottle of water or a 4oz lotion bottle. Nothing dangerous like those.
However, I question how often you’d be in a situation where, after spending weeks wearing a ring with a hole in it, you are in an emergency situation and have the time to find the damned keychain thing, unscrew the spike, not drop it, then screw it onto the ring whose hopefully won’t be plugged with gunk, then punch the window or mugger or space alien.
The hole alone would annoy me. Unless I got the optional $42 compass insert (useful for when you stand south of a hottie, approach them, and say “my compass led me to you” - how could that ever fail?).

For it to actually be handy, I wouldn’t bother to take the spike out.

I’m wondering, if I got ten of these and spiked boots, if I could climb trees like a cat.
