Suri Cruise Plays Dress-Up, People Freak The Hell Out

Oh, damn, you guys, this is gonna be bigger than that time Michelle Obama wore shorts at the Grand Canyon! Apparently, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise have been dressing adorable little Suri in, gasp, peep-toe kitten heels! Pictures of the tiny tot are all over the internet, including The Huffington Post, where outraged readers are leaving comments about what they see as a horrendous social — and fashion — faux pas. After the jump, some of the more colorful reader comments.
I’m sure those heels are doing “wonders” for Suri’s back. Good thing Katie’s wearing flats, but she could have extended the same courtesy to her daughter. I guess they can afford the chiropractor fees.
First, her hair needs to be washed, trimmed and brush. Second, she is too young for any kind of shoes with heels. Dressing your little girl up like a little lady is not cute. She has plenty years ahead of her for that—don’t rush it. There are too many sick predatory pedophiles out here that are attracted to little girls and boys, don’t give them more reasons than necessary to lust after your children—everything is visual for them. Get a grip Tom and Kate.
Whoa! That’s wild. In heels, she’s taller than her dad.
wayyyyyyy too young for heels
Geeesh. Its like they put a bra on her.
When are they going to give her breast implants?
This is a disaster waiting to happen. Plastic surgery, hairpieces, parading for photogs, and now training heels!
Suri in heels is inappropriate and creepy. Children that young should be in sandals and tennis shoes for the structure.
So, what do you guys think — harmless attire or creepy pedophile-bait?

omg! EVERY little girl owns those plastic dress-up shoes. sheesh! maybe suri shouldn't wear them in public, if only because they are crappy plastic toys and most normal parents don't let their kids wear dress-up clothes when going out. but then again, you always see celeb kids in their princess dresses and spiderman costumes. the only thing it suggests is that the kid has all the power in the house and is probably a brat who screamed and cried until she won!

What's the difference between those and the little Ruby Slipper heels you can buy at Disney? It's part of the whole "Princess" fantasy dress up thing. Let her (and her parents!) be.Also - Re: the 2nd comment starting "first her hair needs to be washed...", if you are going to criticize parents for not taking care of their child, at least learn proper spelling and grammar.

The bonus in this situation is that she's almost at eye level with her dad now.

those are dress up heels. I had a pair in sparkly pink AND a cinderella pair of "glass" slippers when I was a kid. They only make them to fit until you're like 6. They are in every toy department around the country and usually come with a purse, some clip-on "gemstone" earrings and a purse. (the princess package will feature a tiara, boa, and magic wand). If we weren't going anywhere that it mattered, my mom would totally let me rock them, or push my "baby" in the toy stroller I had. This is harmless dress up. AND if you pay attention, Katie changed her into cute little pink tennis shoes not too much later! I'm not a big fan of this family, I just find them annoying, but geez, give the poor girl a break. This is normal. What's not normal is having it documented for the world instead of just the family photo album

I'm a horrible parent. My kids have heeled shoes and even heeled play shoes. They almost never wear the heeled shoes, but some days they want to, and I let them. I'm going to hell, I'm sure of it.I suppose I'll just install the pole in their room and see if I can save money by booking the breast implants now.

I think people are blowing this way out of proportion. My daughter has some of those plastic dress-up shoes, so I don't see the big deal.Admittedly, I did think the comment about Suri now being taller than her dad was pretty funny. :)

This is a tragedy. I can't believe they put her in heels. And she is obviously wearing a full face of makeup and hair extensions. And don't even get me started on her skirt!! It is nearly ABOVE THE KNEE!! They are setting her up to be kidnapped by a pedophile!! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!! -- I truly hope the above comment is seen as udder ridiculousness. The only tragedy here is people judging this poor little girl and her parents. She is 4, she is allowed to play dress up. Get the f*ck over it. Thanks! --

Frickin' A people!!! Ugh, if I hear another <del>overly-sensitive whack job</del> person complain about sexualizing toddlers/small children by letting them play dress up or wear a two-piece bathing suit, I'm going to go postal. The ONLY thing wrong with this stuff is YOU. <b>YOU'RE</b> the ones making a big deal out of it, NOT THEM. This girl is like what, 3!?! Chances are, she's thinking that she looks like what a princess should look like because princesses wear heels, so she should too. It's f*cking harmless!!! If you want to bitch about heels being terrible for your back (they are) then take your bitching to the big man with the mouse ears. Tell him that he should be ashamed about how he's forcing this out-dated and harmful fashion staple on young girls by putting all of his princesses in them, rather than going on a tirade every time you see a kid being a kid. <off soapbox>

wow these people are so stupid! I hate it when tabloids turn something so innocent into this sick perverted story, "oh there's pedophiles that are attracted to little girls and boys" and your fu*cken point is? Whatahell does that have to do with dress up? I let my little sister have my old heels, (real ones!) and she walks better in them than I do. I also buy her little cinderalla outfits and whatnot. She's a kid for crying out loud, she not thinking, "oh let me put these heels on so I can look like a stipper"

@Riley: ha, I was about to post an Edit comment mentioning that. I find it odd that ppl are so up in arms about their daughter wearing dress up shoes, when she's being raised in what amounts to a cult, but I got a little carried away on my soapbox :red:

I like the use of quotations around "wonder." What does that mean? Who is she quoting?I also really wonder about those people who seem to think that pedophilia is caused by innocent childrens' wardrobe choices and not by serious mental imbalances in the a*holes that prey upon them.

Ah, ye olde Paedophile comment. Newsflash - it is the CHILDISH qualities that attract them - NOT "adult" dress and ornamentation. This is fact so all those people who are putting rights to the world by pointing the finger at Tom and Katie need to read some research if they're going to post such comments. Ridiculous! Also, if there are those who are inclined to argue a fact, then consider the non-existent cases of little boys "dressing up like men" to attract predators. That point, in and of itself, is your answer.

I had shoes like that as a child. No one died, I'm not out slutting it up every night, no implants, no hair extensions. It was make believe and I was on occasion allowed to wear them out to the store in tow I usually had a large doll that was about 2 feet tall called Mae. I loved playing dress up and no one was hurt. Sometimes you have to let kids be kids and if your just going to the store isn't okay to let them still be dressed up and make it a bit of an adventure. Sdaly for celebrities kids when you do that your a bad parent and your small child is a slut.

@Sam: The situation makes me think of the show Toddlers and Tiaras on TLC. I think I'd be more afraid of the parents than the kids themselves.

I had shoes with a little bit of a heel when I was little. Lots of girls did and do. Maybe not quite that much (mine were probably half that), but look at all the pageant girls. People are definitely overreacting.

The media's obsession with celebrity's kids is pretty creepy. Why should anyone care about Suri's attire? She's a little kid--it's not like she's making a fashion statement. Plus, I highly doubt Suri's parents MADE her wear those shoes. She was probably playing dress up and wanted to wear them out. When are people going to start caring about stuff that actually matters??

Haha, good grief.Who cares, she's a little girl playing dress up, i highly doubt her parents forced her to wear them. Have the wack jobs that are so u in arms ever tried keeping something on a child that it doesn't want to wear? Mission and a half.I also love how they think Katie's flats are any better to Suri's heels, flats can do just as much damage to your feet, legs and back. They should take a walk around the shopping malls, guaranteed they'd find kids slutted up to the max. She's playing dress up, get over it.
