style tips for wearing shorts

Annika has challenged us all to wear shorts (and look nice doing so) this spring, and Katy here proves that it’s possible! Along with her nude lace-up flats, high-waisted shorts, and bangle bracelets, we love how the long necklace ads a little oomph to her outfit. [Weardrobe]

  1. Hanging Bullet Flake Necklace, $80, Boticelli’s Niece
  2. Hayden Necklace, $12.50, Alloy
  3. Playful Beaded Rope Necklace, $40, Topshop

I think something about this outfit looks kind of funny… like she is channeling Steve Urkel or something

Not a fan of high waist anything, or orthopedic looking shoes. And what is the deal with models and celebs and the pigeon toe stance? That is more irritating than anything.

I think this is cute from the front, but I have a feeling it might be a diaper-bum disaster from the back.
However, since there is no conclusive evidence that these shorts are derriere-ruining disasters, they get two thumbs up from me!

@DancerNinja: models and the like stand pigeon toed because it makes your thighs seem slimmer, when you stand pigeon toes they are less close together so they either don’t touch or there is even more space between the two thighs. I read this in some how-to-pretend-to-be-a-model book when I was in 7th grade haha

i think it looks like of cute. however, i just know i cannot wear something like this without looking like a complete fool. definitely can’t pull off things that are highwaisted. not a big fan of them either.

Wow, that palette is a little like mashed potatoes and gravy to me. I reeaally hope this isn’t recessionista comfort-food. Overall, the whole getup is OK, I guess, but think it’s a little forest ranger-ish, or like an updated Brownie Scout uniform.

Hey, did anyone see/like those shorts Drew/Little Edie was wearing in GG—as a teen? Now those were cute ‘cause they had some really nice detailing—piping and button pockets, etc. If you had to go high-waisted, those would be the ones to wear.

The waist line is too high, and the shorts color is a little weird.
