Style On The Street: A Belt That’s Not Holding Up Pants
J.Crew is always styling their catalog models in skirts with tank tops, cardigans, and a belt on the outside. This girl must have seen one of their catalogs and thought, “that belt thing is something, but I only wear neutral colors—no plaid or poppy red for me.” [Trender Bender]

Unless you have boy hips and an elongated torso, that trend is going to make everyone look like a stumpy tree-trunk.

@Texas24 I kind of disagree. I think it depends more on the thickness of the sweater—if it’s thick, belting it only makes it bunchy. But today I belt a thin cardigan over a dress and I think it looks pretty good. And I definitely don’t have boy hips and an elongated torso. My hips were made for birthing.

I agree with Amelia. I think placing the belt right on the waistline makes most girls look more feminine and sometimes even skinnier. I can totally rock this trend and my hips are made for birthing as well!
