I’m The Inside Spoon And I’m A Dude

Over the years, I’ve admitted to a lot of embarrassing things. I told you, dear reader, that I work for a ladies magazine, I have been known to have my back waxed and that I use Facebook responsibly (using anything responsibly is a buzz-kill for a crazy mo-fo like me). But the most embarrassing thing I could think to write about today is that I enjoy being on the inside of a spoon and I’m a dude.
I’d imagine that you’d like to take a second to collect your thoughts as your mind has been straight-up blown, feel free, I’ve all day. Got yourself together? Great. I hope you’re sitting down for this next part: I’m into ladies. Sorry, I should have given you more time. You good now? And finally, I’m into normal-sized, non-masculine women. No gargantuan, bearded ladies are up in this piece. In summary, I prefer the inside position on a spoon, I’m heterosexual, not into dominating (or domineering) ladies and I’m a dude. Jesus, it feels like I just dropped a load of bricks off my shoulders. And it’s not like I mind being the outside spoon from time to time, I’m not a monster.
I’ve gone through most of my adult life under the impression that there was something slightly wrong with me. Who’s ever heard of a dude that likes getting held? (Note: the hugging has to end before I have any chance of falling asleep, seriously.) But this weekend, I heard about another man who doesn’t mind be the inner huggee. If it’s even possible, this guy is even more macho than me and even more into normal ladies. If there are two of us out there, there have to be more. More dudes who are the inside spoon.

Wow - what a relief it is to know that there are men out there that when I say, “maybe you don’t spoon me tonight - I’ll be on the outside” they don’t run for the shower.
There’s hope for us all - no matter which side of the spoon you prefer to be. Now let’s fork.

Hmm… this is odd only because my boyfriend and I spoon with him on the inside all the time. I think we fall asleep like that about 90% of the time. I don’t find it weird at all. I love it. He loves it. Whats the deal?

I’m a girl and I prefer to be the little spoon, but I do take over big spoon regularly. My only issue is the physical logistics - I’m 5’4” and he’s 6’2” so if I’m big spoon to him curled up, either my face is in the middle of his back or my mid-thigh is hip-level for him, so you can’t really curl up. It’s no big deal though *shrug*

My boyfriend is the inner spoon.
I prefer being the outer, because when I sleep my body radiates heat. Honesty, I get far too hot being the inner spoon. Plus, I’m tiny and my boyfriend is a tall lumberjack type, and it almost feels like a giant warm teddy bear.
It’s really comforting actually.

My x preferred spooning and being on the inside actually and the cuddling promptly had to stop when he decided that it was time for sleep. You are not alone.

i think it’s good to switch things up, but i was with a guy that wanted to to be the inside and i found it a big turn off. i guess i’m traditional, but in the beginning, i want to be the girl. it was the beginning of the end basically.

I tend to be inner spoon, but sometimes I just LOVE the feeling of sprawling my smaller girl limbs over a man and being the out spoon. And not one guy I’ve big spooned seems to mind at all!

I dont think its weird at all for a boy to be the inner spoon.. I enjoy being held, but every now and then I roll over and wrap my arms around my bf.. he likes it too.. Its not our all the time position, but nice sometimes

I’m the inner spoon too. It just fits better for me and her. I think it’s because I’m a good few inches taller. If I am the big spoon there’s nowhere that allows us to line up and have a comfortable place for my arms. Ya know? I think LOTS of guys might be closet little spooners.

I’m right there with you, Yellow. I LOVE being the little spoon, but every once in a while I stretch out and become the big spoon…it lends itself well to scratching his back too if I just lean back a little.

I never knew it was such an issue. I’ve been both. Sometimes I like being the outer spoon better because I don’t feel so constricted…and when I’m ready to go to sleep, I can roll over and do so. If he’s touching me, there’s not way I’m gonna be able to get to sleep.

My man is a Captain in the Navy and he loves loves loves being spooned by me. Yup! And, with him, I love being the spooner far more than being the spoon-ee. That’s not to say that I don’t get spooned. He spoons me when the need is there, but it’s automatic…unspoken, I don’t ask for it. We just know. But our normal way is for me to spoon him.

i don’t know if my guys loves it, but a lot of times he’s the inner spoon. he has a large build, and i’m a little asian girl. i like hugging him and resting my head on him too. we take turns too.

My husband would probably like it if I spooned him, but since I hate all manner of cuddling/spooning/whatever, I don’t. So, yeah, I see nothing weird with a man being the inside spoon…I just don’t get the whole cuddle thing to start with.

I’m a girl and I measure in at a freakish 6’1”, so being the big spoon is something that’s old news to me. Who doesn’t love being held? Even my current boyfriend adores it, and he’s 6’7”. Plus it’s fun to run your hands up and down a guy’s side in that position, and I love nuzzling my face between his should blades. It’s perfectly normal to me.

My boyfriend loves to be held!! I love holding him too. Nothing wrong with it at all. But I also love it when he holds me tight in his arms, thats one of the best feelings ever and it makes me feel safe.

my boyfriend is the little spoon most of the time. and it’s kind of difficult (i’m 5’0”, he’s close to 6’) but soo worth it to be able to hold him.

I love to be the inner spoon - until my husband starts snoring. When I push him to roll over the other way, the snoring stops and I turn over too, becoming the outer. It’s like a ritual dance we do every night! By the way, we do a ritual lovemaking every day too - and we like it so much we’ve even written a book about it!
