Socialite Did Not Start The Korean War

Kim Soo-im was once blamed for starting the entire Korean War, but it turns out she probably had little to do with it, even though she was executed by the South Korean military for supposedly acting as a “very malicious international spy.” Back then, they thought that she had learned secret information from one lover (an American colonel) and passed it on to another lover (a top Korean communist), and that she also aided “communist” friends. But now it seems that the American man who fathered her child, Col. John E. Baird, most likely didn’t have access to sensitive information, and her Korean lover, who was later executed by North Korea, may actually have been an American agent. Her son discovered declassified documents revealing information about his mother and her death while trying to learn more about her and is making a movie about the incredible story. [AP]

Such a sad story, but this will make an amazing movie… you couldn’t make this stuff up.
