October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Do your part and wear pink every single day until November, or do at least one of the following:

  • Make Click to Give your home page, then click on the pink box every time you open your web browser. Each time you do that, a sponsor will help fund mammograms.

  • Visit a participating salon and get pink hair extensions added to your mane between now and Oct. 31 as part of Pink Hair for Hope. Your $10 donation will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Plus, you’ll look fierce.
  •

  • The Love/Avon Army of Women is trying to recruit one million women. Dr. Susan Love started the organization to find women to participate in the studies that will help put an end to the disease. Just enter some information about yourself on the website, and you’ll be notified if you meet the criteria for studies and asked whether you’d like to participate.
  •

  • Get moving at one of the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events, held in cities across the country. You don’t even have to be fast.
  •

  • If you prefer to travel at higher speeds, raise money and bike in the Ride to Embower on Oct. 25 in Solvang, CA. If you raise $4,000 your airfare, accommodations and meals are all paid for.
  •

  • Look for the pink lids on Yoplait yogurt, and send them in to the company by the end of this year. For each lid they receive, Yoplait will donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Competitive? Start a team and compete against others for top yogurt-eating honors.

Having a history of breast cancer on both sides of my family (yay me), I’m all over these. I participate in the Yoplait campaign every year, and I’m totally in love with the Pink Hair for Hope campaign! I love that idea and I can’t wait to find a participating salon in my area!

i really wish that the pink hair for hope website had a way to search how to find salons that offer that…  that’s too bad; i love the idea.
