Shocker! Kate Moss Looks Different Before And After Airbrushing
Kate Moss is hotter than ever these days. She’s killing it in new Prada and Just Cavalli campaigns, gracing the September covers of W and Russian Vogue, and recent business dealings with Simon Cowell and Philip Green indicate that the model-turned-designer is also entering into entertainment mogul territory. But the Daily Mail, one of the UK’s most entertaining and trashtastic papers, is always ready to cut a celeb down to size, and they love their Kate pot shots. This time, however, they’ve gone too far.
Sure, we all love looking at photos of normally perfect-looking famous people in their crappiest states. (You know those “Celebs without makeup!” tabloids sell like hotcakes.) And this photo they’re running of what some consider to be the most beautiful woman in the world on vacation is, shall we say, striking. But my issue isn’t with the photo (I mean, hell, she’s taken thousands of great ones—we all have off days), it’s with the accompanying article, which is every woman’s worst nightmare. Admonishing Kate for leading a “hedonistic lifestyle,” they gather a team of experts who scrutinize her aging process from head to toe. They address the acne scar on her chin, the state of the back of her hands, her “droopy” jawline, her less-than-perfect tummy, and the fact that if she’s had any Botox injected, “it’s worn off.”
Sheesh! Isn’t this all a bit much? It’s certainly the ultimate in objectification. Then again, take one look at her W cover shot, and maybe it’s a good thing, in terms of women needing to see that sans the airbrushing, lighting, and makeup. “Supermodels, they’re just like us!”
Still, could you imagine if a newspaper printed a laundry list of your flaws? It’s pretty effed. Anyone?

Wow, how effed up can some journalists be. I’m sure these people writing this ish on Kate Moss dont look any better then she does even when she IS airbrushed. People need to get off their high horses and realize not ever celebrity wants to look like plastic. Shes being a normal human being and aging like the rest of us. Good for her.

Yes, she is aging like the rest of us. But remember all those cocaine and partying scandals she got herself caught into. Drugs definitely help further the aging process. But I think it’s ridiculous always trying to make celebrities look bad. On one hand, it helps all of us feel more normal, but on the other hand, it gives us all a bit of jealousy, because I’m sure lots of people secretly would want to look like an airbrushed picture. Airbrushing needs to stop—it doesn’t give ANYONE realistic views on beauty and aging.

Kate Moss is a heavy smoker, drinker, and cokehead (arguably former). Of course she’s going to look like that by her 30s.
The photo on the right is not THAT unrealistic. My mother had a similarly clear complexion at the age of 40. It’s called taking care of yourself. Something I cannot endorse enough.

I think it’s ridiculous that they decided to tear her apart, piece by piece. However, she looks a little rough because of her hard partying ways; I don’t have much sympathy.

That’s a win for the anti-smoking camp if I ever saw one…

We’re ridiculed for not looking like shopped models and having flaws so i don’t see why it’s so bad for her to be subjected to it too. I don’t think they went too far with this really, it’s to be expected from magazines and papers especially with the lifestyle she leads. Doesn’t make it anymore right for papers to do this but so what, once you do glamor shots you’re flaws are going to be pointed out.
If she didn’t party, smoke and lead the lifestyles she’s been having she probably could look like the shopped picture with a little makeup.

WOW! Is that even the same person?! But I do think its cruel of them to take her apart like that, but its true that she should have taken a little better care of herself along the years, but heck it looks like it was an off day for her on the photo and a really photoshoped picture to compare too!

I have seen her “up close” and she looks like a mix of the two photos. Let’s keep in mind that anyone looks “rough” when they are squinting because the sun is in their face. She does look like she hasn’t taken care of her body, ie; drugs, booze, not eating properly, running on adrenaline, etc. etc. BUT if people who read these rags are so starved for entertainment, then I suppose any photo of someone looking marginally worse than they usually do is “reassuring” to some.
She is a very stylish woman but is like so many of the people “on the scene” - still a teenager - and one who doesn’t have any balanced people who make being healthy a priority. Besides, why should she bother? She is very monetarily wealthy and is respected for pretty much just her appearance.

Use these photos with your kids to reinforce “just say no’ to drugs, alcohol and tobacco.
