Screech Is No Longer Saved By The Bell

Well, this is really sad, you guys. Dustin Diamond, the twerp who played dorky Screech on “Saved By The Bell,” appeared on Fox News yesterday to promote his book, Behind The Bell, a tell-all about the dirt behind the scenes of the ‘90s teen sitcom. I don’t know whether to feel more disturbed by his geometric facial hair, his strange Dr. Evil laugh, or his obvious bitterness over his former castmates’ (Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez) relative success. You may remember several years ago when Diamond faced foreclosure on his home in Port Washington, WI, a suburb of Milwaukee, and sold t-shirts for $15 with “I paid 15 dollars to help Screeech [sic] save his house” emblazoned on the front. He explained he had to include an extra “e” in Screeech because of copyright laws. Later it came out that his house was never at risk for foreclosure and the whole thing had been a publicity stunt! This wasn’t quite as bad as the publicity stunt he pulled later that year when a sex tape — probably leaked by him — showing him ejaculating on an apple pie hit the internet. The guy’s such a hot desperate mess, the juiciest “dirt” in his tell-all seems to be that cast members allegedly took steroids while doing the show. “You can see about 25 pounds of growth,” Diamond screeches, referring to Gosselaar, who happened to star on the series and its spin-off between the ages of 15-21 when guys tend to, you know, grow a lot. Dudes, I think I smell a bestseller.  [via BuzzFeed and Wikipedia]

Um… This could just be me, but don’t most teenage/early adult males generally add about 25 lbs suddenly in the course of growing up?

Dude prob has money but no fame. People tend to get addicted to such at an early age. Sour grapes spoil the jelly once again.

Yeah, I mean he was the outcast on the show, I can see how he would be one in real life.

Sounds an awful lot like the plot of the (terrible) movie “Pauly Shore is Dead”. If you haven’t seen this cinematic “masterpiece”, allow me to give you a rundown (and spare you 90 minutes of your life you’d never get back):

-Pauly Shore whines about how unpopular and irrelevant he is
-He decides to fake his own death to make people realize how much they “truly liked him”
-Meanwhile, an insane amount of celebrities make cameos for no apparent reason (other than to collect a paycheck, I’m assuming.) The list includes Fred Durst, the Hilton sisters, and Gerardo (of “Rico Suave” fame), just to name a few.
-People, of course, get pissed when they discover he’s not really dead, and his plot to make people discover how much they liked him backfires
-Oh, and at (too many) points in the movie, he jerks off while talking to a porn star on the phone

Methinks Dustin Diamond saw this movie and decided to adapt the stupid tricks for his own pathetic needs.

Side note: the year after I graduated, my high school actually hosted him to do a stand-up performance in our theatre. This was a fundraiser for the graduating class of that year. I was away at school and couldn’t attend, but from what my friends (and mom, who took my little sister and her friend to see him; they were only in 6th grade at the time) who went said, not only was he un-funny but was a little too raunchy for what was billed as a family-oriented event. They were sorely disappointed in booking him, and he was never asked back.

some people just don’t deserve the success they receive in life.

He really didn’t say anything all that harsh in this interview. The interviewer even tries to make it sound worse and he’s just responds like, we were kids with money in hollywood, stuff happens.

Hes got the James Hetfeild mustache! HAHA! but with a jew-fro. Awesomely gross… It does suck that he isnt included in the reunion. I wonder if they will even mention his character.
