Science Wants To Get Its Hands All Over Your Breasts
In strange boob news you can use, two new stories emerge on the breast front: a surgically implanted bra and an effort to regrow breast tissue. Israeli researchers are working on Cup&Up, a bra that’s inserted into the body. The Minimally Invasive Mastopexy is supposedly less intrusive than a typical breast augmentation. Adi Cohen, the man behind the “internal bra,” explains: “What we’ve done is build a silicone bra, insert it into the body and attach it to the ribs and to the fascia.” So far, though, they’ve only tested the Cup&Up on ... pigs. Meanwhile, in Australia, researchers are working on ways to regrow human breast tissue, which could help cancer survivors. Let the cyborg breast revolution begin. [Gizmodo, Newser]

As a chick, my first reaction was… dear sweet mother of christ, NO. And then “awesome” to the second item. But an internal bra? Sounds horrifying.

First, yaaay for the research for cancer!! Second, I would never want to have a bra I couldn’t take off. The best feeling is taking off a bra and letting them fly free! Why in the world would I want to restrict my girls for the rest of eternity?

I’m feeling slightly nauseated after reading the description of the internal bra..wth. I’d prefer not to have a bra permanately attached to my ribs…from the inside..GAG

AAHHH. No thank you on the bra implant. Thumbs up to the researchers working on regrowing breast tissue though.

I’m guessing that it’s not supposed to feel like a bra attached to your ribs, but the name “internal bra” isn’t going to help their marketing efforts. Interesting idea though.
Kudos to the cancer research, but I’m curious as to whether regrown tissue would be safe for a woman prone to breast cancer. I’m pretty clueless on this one so this fear might be unfounded, but it was the first thought that came to mind.
